Feeling Like a Blog of Crap

Sunday Late Afternoon

What a fun and tiring weekend I had! I had high hopes of jumping on here last night to do a little more posting and to hopefully find a blog theme with a little more pizazz than this lovely theme, but when The Prospect asked me to spend Sunday afternoon/evening with him, I was all about the “lazy Sunday with a cute guy” plan.

After a quick but butt-kicking strength workout, I showered and guzzled down a strawberry banana protein shake before heading over to The Prospect’s apartment. I honestly could drink one of those bad boys for 2 solid meals a day, it’s just THAT good, and this morning’s shake nearly sent me over the edge. The Prospect doesn’t entirely understand my love for the shake and is convinced I’m head-over-heels with it because it’s nearly identical to a milkshake. What a smart boy. 😉

After our intense protein shake discussion, we got cozy on the couch and cheered on our believed Patriots! One of our biggest issues, or his issue with me, is that I’m anti Tom Brady. As The Prospect puts it, I’m all about Peyton “Big Forehead” Manning, but I was more than happy to drool over adorable little Wes Welker and Stephen Gostkowski.

And Cute.

After watching our boys win, we flipped through the channels and ended up switching back and forth between several movies before I had to head home to get ready for the work week.

Monday

Last night I didn’t get that good of a night’s sleep. I think that because I headed home around 9 last night which is usually when I’m crawling into bed, messed me up a little. I kept waking up throughout the night as well which left me wanting to hit snooze a 2nd time this morning, but I sucked it up and went for my workout.

Which was AMAZING. I was able to cover 4.5 miles, which don’t ask me how, because I’m not even sure how I squeezed that in. Must have been my ridiculously childish and dance crazy playlist I ran to.

I’m sorry, but Bieber, Carly Rae and PSY don’t exactly make for an easy run. All I wanted to do was dance while I ran! There were a lot of arm wiggles and fist pumps throughout Gangnam Style. I remember the first time my spin instructor played Gangnam Style in one of our classes and I was just having an awful day. I literally pouted throughout the entire song until she started fist-pumping. Those damn fist-pumps are more contagious than yawning!

I also threw in a little core work, and by little, I mean it. I was more interested in laying on the floor after my run than actually working out more, so I stuck to several moves.

  • 1 minute plank hold, :30 second side planks
  • 50 crunches
  • 50 heel touches
  • 10 leg circles, counterclockwise and clockwise

Easy peasy with a side of a strawberry banana protein shake.

Today’s lunch was a piece-of-cake meal I’ve been craving for a long time now (read: too lazy to make hard boiled eggs so I never made it).

Egg & Avocado Open-Faced Sandwich!

20130114-152912.jpg

I brought 4 egg whites and half of an avocado to work with me today, and around lunch time, I cut and mixed it together before enjoying on a piece of Ezekiel bread. Since we’re honest with one another, I truthfully tried to fold the bread in half but I ended up with eggs and avocado all over my desk, which is why this sucker turned into an open-faced sandwich.

20130114-153012.jpg

I served the sandwich with a side of roasted veggies, which I prepped yesterday morning.

Into the mix went

  • 1 Summer Squash
  • 1 Zucchini
  • 2 Roma Tomatoes
  • 1 lb. of Baby Carrots

I heavily sprayed Olive Oil Pam Spray and tossed salt and pepper into the mix before roasting the veggies for 45 minutes at 450 degrees.

20130114-153118.jpg

These veggies are a favorite for The Prospect and I, and we’ve recently become jealous when one of us makes a batch and doesn’t share.

My appetite has been off the walls today, so around quarter of 3 I microwaved a Chocolate Peanut Butter Quest Bar in the microwave for 30 seconds before topping it with 3 TBSP of PB2.  These bars do a great job of keeping my appetite at bay for hours, and since I had spinning at 5, I needed something filling to keep me in a good mood until 6:30.

20130114-153215.jpg

I know it looks like poop on poop, but it tasted like peanut butter on a brownie. If you haven’t tried Quest Bars yet, please do. You’ll love me.

Spinning was only alright. I wasn’t feeling good and wanted to pass out, but I survived and came home to polish off another container of roasted veggies and crackers dipped in peanut butter.

photo-27

Kip watched me intently the entire time I ate the peanut butter and I felt he deserved to lick the jar clean. Now it’s time to relax for the night and watch last week’s Grey’s Anatomy!

I’m Still Alive!

Hihihihihi!! I’m still alive, my blog’s still alive and I’m just waiting for WordPress and Web Hosting Hub to complete the transfer of my domain.

By the time you’re reading this, the transfer will thankfully be complete and you can continue reading about my boring life.

It’s a weird feeling not being able to blog or have bloggers stop by, but I figured a quick recap of the past few days would be good!

I’m keeping this post short and sweet, mainly just so you can rest at ease and know I’m still alive and kicking.

Workouts have really been the same. Running 4 miles in the morning, strength workouts, oh and spinning on Monday, where I made a new friend! She even convinced me to go to Zumba with her on Thursday. Neva eva been to Zumba so I’m terrified but excited to try it!

Food has been off the walls over here. I still drool when looking at these meals.

20130109-111857.jpg
Peanut butter banana & jam oats!

20130109-111949.jpg
Hands down the best bowl I’ve ever made.

20130109-112058.jpg
Strawberry banana protein shake with my new and best tasting protein powder, Syntha-6 Vanilla Ice Cream. Holy crap it tastes like strawberry ice cream. Nom nom!

20130109-112209.jpg
Turkey, avocado, spinach and mustard sandwich on Ezekiel bread with raw veggies on the side. Anyone else fart like crazy after eating Ezekiel bread? No, only me? That’s awkward then.

And my new favorite way to enjoy Greek yogurt.

20130109-112344.jpg
With gooey PB2 in it – not just sprinkling the powder!

Random side rant, this guy always stumps me.

20130109-112432.jpg
21 degrees out and he’s driving with the top down. Maybe he had Ezekiel bread for breakfast and doesn’t want to dutch oven himself?

Cat Puke in My Shoes

Happy Monday!

monday

Exactly how I feel. If you haven’t heard this saying before, you HAVE to watch this great video. Mike is obsessed with it and got me hooked on it. Apparently it’s a pretty popular saying in Boston!

Last night wasn’t a great sleeping night. I felt like I kept waking up every several hours, and I even woke up to my cat heaving and getting ready to puke. I panicked and darted out of bed to try to get him out before he puked, but it was too late and he found a nice spot for his dinner in my old pair of running shoes that I wear all the time. Let me tell ya, cleaning your shoe at 3 am is pretty damn fun, I highly recommend it!

Morning Workout

A few short hours later my alarm went off a little too loud for my tired ears, but I was able to drag my butt to the treadmill for a surprisingly amazing run. Taking yesterday afternoon off from weights and letting my body rest did wonders for today’s workout.

workout

I was so excited that I was able to run a little farther today, even if it was only an extra .3 miles. Progress has to start somewhere and I’m pleased with it so far!

After my run, I was a hungry hungry girl, so I polished off a strawberry banana protein shake before starting my work week.

Mid-morning I snacked on a Honeycrisp apple (my newest addiction), 24 almonds, and a clementine. My appetite is in full force today because an hour later I was more than ready for lunch.

Lately I’ve been enjoying an Amy’s veggie burger with veggies for lunch, but today I wanted carbs so I threw the burger on a slice of Ezekiel bread and enjoyed an open-faced burger.

lunch

This is easily my new jam! The firm but doughy bread took this lunch to an entirely new level, and will definitely be a staple in my work week lunches. It’s easy to prepare, healthy and satisfying. A 1-2-3 punch.. straight to the baby maker.

veg

The veggies were leftovers from last night’s BBQ, which looked a lot like this plate of heaven:

dinner

Maybe dinner was what fueled my run this morning!

I skipped my lunch time workout today with plans of taking the Monday evening spinning class that I used to take back in the day before training. I’m pretty exhausted and am contemplating not going, but I know the workout will be great and I really want to test out my Polar FT4 heart rate monitor watch and see what I burn during the ride.

Also of noteworthy blog mentions, I have a killer headache and an uncontrollable bladder.

Let me hear your Monday horror stories.

Staring at Val Chmerkovskiy’s Abs All Day

It’s finally Friday! I don’t know about you, but this week left me all screwed up. I keep thinking that New Year’s Day was Sunday and not Tuesday, and I continually refer back to that mindset. I’m just so excited that it’s almost the weekend, and so far the only thing on my agenda is to spend Sunday with my cousin, Nikki. Right now I’m enjoying the fact that Saturday is completely free with nothing on the agenda.

Last night I enjoyed another night of troubled sleeping. Too much on the brain, so once again, I settled in for a long read of Blog Inc.

20130104-113845.jpg
Seriously loving this book SO much! I love blogging, but this book is making me so excited for the future of my blog, which is another goal of 2013.

It got me so excited that last night I did a little research and this morning I signed up with Web Hosting Hub and purchased a redesign for good ol’ Running on Peanut Butter! 🙂

At the beginning of December I actually purchased a package with Blue Host but had too many difficulties so I cancelled with them and have been trying to find a great host the past several weeks, since I’ve been dying for a redesign since October. The selling point with Hub is that for $25 they will transfer everything for you. Yes, everything. That was my big issue with Blue Host. Every time I contacted support I was led in 20 different directions and after a while, it was too time consuming and frustrating.

So hopefully in several weeks this little blog will be even prettier!

Oh, ps, did you notice anything unusual about the above picture of Blog Inc.?

20130104-114046.jpg
That’s right, since my bookmark is actually in the visor of my car (don’t ask), I had to resort to using a dryer sheet as my bookmark since it was on my nightstand (again, don’t ask) and I was too lazy to move.

Morning Workout

This morning I woke up with extremely sore thigs. Don’t know what a thig is? Well neither do I, but sometimes typos are just too good to correct.

I was pleasantly surprised at how well my run went this morning, although tomorrow might be a New Year’s Day repeat since my body always feels the biggest workout pain 2 days after.

20130104-114137.jpg
I was able to cover 4 miles and fit in several core exercises before heading to work, where I enjoyed my Strawberry Banana protein shake while drooling at Val Chmerkovskiy.

20130104-114222.jpg
What? That’s a totally acceptable wallpaper for your work computer, right?

I really wanted to use a picture of his wonderful body for my wallpaper, but I didn’t think that was such a good idea.

20130104-114254.jpg
Instead, we can all enjoy those abs right now.

20130104-114339.jpg
Dessert for breakfast, if you know what I mean. 😉

Alright, time to minimize my open documents and drool over Val, power through work.

My Body is Telling Me “More Veggies!”

Today was my first full day back at work since Thursday, December 20th! Thursday, Friday and Monday I took half days to spend time with my family and the prospect, so easing back into the work week after the holidays wasn’t too painful. Let me tell ya, I was seriously dreading a full day of work, more so because the holidays and vacation are over. Take out the tissues. 😦

I do have to admit that although it’s sad to say goodbye to the holiday spirit, I am beyond excited to get back into my daily routine of lunch time workouts and more structured meals. I’m beyond ecstatic that cookies and desserts won’t be popping out at every corner.

After having a difficult run yesterday, I was hoping it was a fluke and that this morning’s run would be easier and not as painful. While it wasn’t as bad, it still wasn’t my best, and I think I know why. My body felt lethargic and heavy, aka it was screaming for more veggie love.

Ever since our NYE dinner, I’ve been craving roasted veggies and grabbed ingredients during yesterday’s errand run to prepare tonight. To be honest, I was going to prepare them last night, but only had time to prep chicken breasts since I made seeing Mark a priority over roasting veggies. I had veggies in the freezer at work so I knew I could get away with preparing the veggies tonight.

Morning Workout

I mentioned I was excited to get back into my workout routine as I’ve realized during the last week and a half, my strength workouts have been seriously lacking! Today I told myself that I was going to complete the Pure Hell workout from last week’s training session, you know, the workout that almost made me puke.

IMG_5781

I’m Calling BS on Those Numbers

After my 4 mile run, I tackled several of the core exercises so that I wouldn’t be pressed for time during my lunch workout.

  • 4 mile run
  • 3 sets of 15 stair push-ups
  • 2 sets of 10 burpees
  • 2 sets of 10 leg circles – clockwise and counterclockwise
  • 50 crunches
  • 2 sets of 50 bike crunches
  • Stretching

Breakfast

I’ve been so sad lately since I ran out of frozen strawberries, but worry no more, I grabbed a new bag yesterday and was finally able to drool over my Strawberry Banana Protein Shake again.

IMG_5783

Seriously, after my first sip I was going crazy. You’d think Patrick Dempsey had just pinched my butt and kissed me passionately. That damn good! 😉

Before my lunch time workout, I snacked on an apple, roughly 12ish almonds and the Apple Cinnamon Chobani bowl that Ryan picked up but never ate.

IMG_5788

I added ½ a tbsp. of chia seeds, raw oats and PB2 to the bowl and loved every bite of it! I typically have several snacks in between my breakfast and workout, and save my lunch for after, although now that I mostly do strength training on my lunch hours, I could get away with having lunch beforehand since cardio isn’t involved as much.

Lunch Time Workout

Prior to tackling the Pure Hell Total Body workout, I busted out a quick mile on the treadmill before heading into the vacant class room to complete my strength workout.

  • Jump Overs Pulsing Squats, 2 sets of (8-6-4-2-1)
  • Squat Jump to Shoulder Press 12.5 lbs, 2 sets of 15
  • Summo Squat to Upright Row with 25 lbs plate, 2 sets of 15
  • Back Row on Bench, 15 lbs, 2 sets of 15
  • Reverse Back Flys on DB Bench, 5 lbs, 2 sets of 15
  • Step-Ups, 10 lbs, 2 sets of 15 each leg
  • Isolated Back Lunge on Steps 2 sets of 20 each leg
  • Sit-Ups on Bench, Arms Extended Up, 5 lbs, 2 sets of 10
  • Reverse Crunches, 2 sets of 20

IMG_5791

The workout wasn’t as vigorous and puke worthy as it was with Heather, but I left a sweaty beast and felt strong.

IMG_5795

I was more than ready for lunch by the time I cleaned up, and I enjoyed an Amy’s All-American Veggie Burger with Green Giant Garden Vegetable Medley.

IMG_5793

I’ve been addicted to Amy’s Veggie Burger’s lately, especially when loaded with ketchup and mustard! I’m really only a sweet potato fan so I left roughly 60% of the potatoes and focused on the sugar snap peas.

Dinner

IMG_5779

Last night before heading to Mark’s apartment for a lazy night in, I cooked up 2 abnormally large chicken breasts on the stove top.

IMG_5800

I also roasted a mix of carrots, broccoli and cauliflower in a mix of olive oil, salt and pepper, and had planned on enjoying a clean and healthy dinner of chicken and roasted veggies.

IMG_5804

I really haven’t had too much of an appetite since lunch, so I snacked on several leftover baby carrots and a little pb, one of my favorite ways to eat peanut butter!

Exhaustion is kicking in so it looks like it’s time for me to curl up with a book and read the night away! Hope everyone survived being back at work!

New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day

Happy New Year everyone! I hope you all had a fun, crazy, and relaxing New Year’s Eve and day, I know I sure did.

New Year’s Eve

On NYE, I headed out of work early so that Mark and I could start celebrating as soon as possible. Our idea of celebrating was pretty lame but it worked for us and made us happy to be able to spend quality time together.

I went over at 4:30 and talked for 3 hours before we realized we had to start cooking dinner. This was our first home cooked meal together and it was so much fun to be able to cook as a team.

20130102-100418.jpg
We went for a pork loin and roasted veggies.

20130102-100447.jpg
Mark manned the meat while I took care of the veggies.

20130102-100536.jpg
These were the best roasted veggies I’ve ever had! Into our roast went carrots, Brussels sprouts, asparagus, tomatoes and onions, so good!

20130102-100644.jpg
The wino even got me to enjoy a glass as well with our meal. Our first home cooked meal together was a success and I’m so excited for many more in the future!

With stuffed bellies, we settled onto the couch and shared our goals for 2013. We started watching The Game, an intense movie starring Sean Penn and Michael Douglas, but had to pause it for the ball drop. We watched several after-party performances before calling it a night around 1 am.

New Year’s Day

We woke up around 10, which for me is sleeping in extremely late. I’m usually up at 8 on days off or 9 if I want to sleep in, so my body really loved the extra laziness.

20130102-100729.jpg
I was hoping to start the New Year off with an awesome run, but honestly, it was probably one of the worst runs I’ve had in a long time. I forgot to use my inhaler, which played a big factor since I had a lot of difficulty breathing throughout the run. I didn’t think I’d last more than a mile, but I incorporated several minutes of walking into the run and finished with a 4 mile run. I was extremely drained and couldn’t even fathom doing any strength training. Not a great 1st workout of the year but at least I got my butt moving.

20130102-101002.jpg
I tried to replenish my body with a Chobani yogurt and a bowl of Peanut Butter Banana oatmeal before officially starting the day with a handful of errands. Around 5 I went back to Mark’s for dinner and football. I’m not a big football fan but I actually had fun watching the Rose Bowl with him.

20130102-101330.jpg
We ordered in and shared the Toscana salad from 900 Degrees. We licked our plates clean it was so good! The lighting was too dark so I had to steal that picture from their site but it was identical to ours.

All in all, I had a great New Years and was so happy that I got to end 2012 and start 2013 with Mark.

How was your New Years? Did you suffer the day with a nasty hangover or did you start the New Year with a feeling of greatness?

Christmas with my Mom’s Family

Yesterday afternoon my Mom’s side of the family put a wrap to the Christmas celebrations. We headed over to my Uncle’s around 2 and immediately jumped at the appetizers as we all had hungry appetites.

IMG_5726

My Aunt’s bruschetta was my absolute favorite! I’ve never been too interested in trying bruschetta, but one bite of hers and I was in a new kind of heaven.

IMG_5725

The middle bites were my favorite, as they were extra soft and sweet. Perfect! After appetizers, everyone that was 21+ went to begin our Yankee Swap while my high school cousins opened their gifts. Unfortunately they’re at the age where they only want gift cards so it’s no fun to watch them open.

IMG_5735

I picked #3 out of 9 and I was pretty worried but luckily I went home with what I picked and what I wanted the most. A mini brownie maker with the BEST brownie mix! Okay, so this doesn’t really correlate with my desire to eat clean, buttttt this is awesome.

After the gifts and Yankee Swap were complete, I hung out on the couch with my cousins before we sat down for dinner.

photo-25

My Aunt prepared every dish, and yes, I took a little of everything, but my favorite was actually the mac ‘n cheese. I’m a mac ‘n cheese snob in the sense that I only like Kraft shells or characters, but her homemade mac ‘n cheese was out of this world.

IMG_5734

It was extra cheesy, just the way I like it! My other favorite was her chicken wrapped in tomato and cheese stuffing. Holy crap. And that crusted ball you see, that’s actually a potato covered in planko. I wasn’t a fan of the potato but I did eat the shell!

If you want to see big dogs, just take a look at one of my Uncle’s Newfoundland dogs weighing in at 125 pounds.

IMG_5738

IMG_5737

Izzy is such a fluff ball and all I wanted to do was cuddle her all day and night. Such a cute baby!

I didn’t snap a picture of the desserts, but I did enjoy a handful or two of my Mom’s addicting mix before we hit the road to brave the snow storm we were stuck in. When we arrived home, my parents, Ryan and I cuddled in our family room and enjoyed Ryan’s last night by watching Trouble with the Curve. I didn’t pay attention the entire time as I was busy with a little work, but from what I saw I enjoyed the movie!

Sunday

Today has been a pretty busy and tiring day. I woke up around 9 (not enough sleep), and ran a decent 4 miles before saying goodbye to Ryan and attacking my list of errands. I failed pretty much with everything I wanted to accomplish (finding a new foam roller and a going out top), but I did score some pretty sweet deals at Yankee Candle and GNC.

IMG_5753

After my errands I enjoyed a bowl of Peanut Butter Banana Oatmeal before I hit the gym for a strength workout and to relax and unwind in the sauna. On my way home from the gym I shoveled a good 60% of my neighbor’s driveway, and was supposed to be at Allie’s house for the evening to watch the football game, but I’m completely wiped out from the shoveling.

I’m just about to crawl into my bed and watch a chick flick on my new Blu-Ray dvd player I got for Christmas.

photo-26

It has some really kick ass features that I wasn’t expecting. Actually, on my Christmas list I asked for “a basic DVD player that plays DVDs” and received a Blu-Ray DVD player from my Dad. He seriously spoils me. 🙂

I’m really craving a little Gerard Butler in my life so I have a night of drooling ahead of me. Hope everyone had a great weekend!

Egg in my Oatmeal

Hey guys! The past few days I’ve had the mindset to post morning and night but the holidays have literally snuck up on my ass and have kept my nights pretty crazy. By the time I’m done, looking at my computer screen is honestly the last thing I want to do. I’ve been waking up to a butt load of text messages from friends sent around 9 pm that start out friendly and then quickly become grumpy texts because they think they’re being ignored. Oh the glories of going to bed early and waking up early.

Last night was another busy night. Both of my parents had holiday parties to attend, so I was in charge of the pup. By the time I got to him it was around 5:30. We played quickly, fed the meowing cat, and then jumped into my car to run errands.

He had fun making me freeze to death while he stuck his head out the window as we drove around town to hit up the library, grocery store, and gas station.

20121221-101922.jpg
This is Kip’s “I mean business face.” I made him about 20 minutes late for his typical dinner and I could easily tell he wasn’t pleased with my shenanigans.

I went a little crazy at the library and picked up quite the assortment of books.

20121221-102042.jpg
2 Christmas books: one a romance and one a mystery, and then a summer-ish book. I usually only leave with a max of 2 books, but I couldn’t choose between the Christmas books so I said screw it and left like a nerd with 3 books.

Oh and the highlight of my trip and night? Buy one get one free on tubs of Cool Whip! I had an Apple Pie Quest Bar that I wanted for dessert last night and part of my trip to the grocery store was to find a “healthier” option for a topping. Bingo!!

20121221-102125.jpg
Along with Walden Farms pancake syrup, this baby was a knock-out! It seriously tasted like warm apple pie.

Since I ate about half of one of the Cool Whip tubs last night (addicting!), I wasn’t sure how I’d feel this morning, but I was surprised when I got a great 4 mile run in FIVE minutes quicker than usual. What the?! I honestly do think I can attribute this to my strength training and working with a personal trainer the past 5 ½ weeks. The improvements I’ve seen are really blowing me away. Best $$$$ I’ve probably ever spent.

Morning Workout

• 4 mile run
• 4 sets of 15 stair push-ups
• 10 burpees with bicep curl to overhead press
• 50 crunches and 50 side-to-side crunches
• 1 minute plank hold and :30 second holds each side
• 50 heel touchers
• 2 sets of 20 plank tucks
• Stretching

I felt so good this morning after that workout! Talk about a great way to start your Friday.

Today at work we have our holiday party, and since us girls in the Marketing Department oversee it, we get to start setting up in a little bit. Since I knew my morning and day was going to be a little different, I made sure to eat a filling breakfast since I’ll be in “go-go-go” mood very shortly.

Breakfast

This morning I whipped up a bowl of peanut butter banana oatmeal, but this time I spiced it up a little. Along with my usual additions of chia seeds, flax, cinnamon and Truvia, I included an egg white and a little vanilla protein powder. I’ve seen this idea pop up on blogs and Instagram, and figured this morning was the best day for it.

This had to have been one of the better bowls of oatmeal I’ve had! I love the addition of the egg, which you can’t even taste. I put a dollop of peanut butter on top before leaving for work, and when I sat down at my desk, it had melted everywhere. So. Amazing. Holy. Schnikes.

Now that I’m full, I have a little bit of work to do before a fun afternoon and evening full of a Yankee Swap with the marketing girls, amazing food, an ugly sweater contest and a white elephant gift exchange with the entire company.

Oh and that amazing food I’m talking about, just check out our menu. Let’s get this party started!

A Night of Christmas Movies and Christmas Coloring

Last night I acted like I was 10 and loved every minute of it! Once I completed my paperwork for 2013 insurance, I grabbed my spot on the couch and watched a classic Christmas movie.

Jingle all the Way! If you guys haven’t seen this one yet, you have to. When Ryan and I were younger we used to watch this bad boy at least twice a week during the holiday season. One of the things I like about it is that it’s only an hour and 25 minutes, so it’s a great movie to pop in if you want to laugh, enjoy the holidays and not be stuck on your couch for hours.

While watching Arnold Schwarzenegger try and get his son a Turbo Man action figure, I amped up the holiday spirit by coloring Christmas pictures. Yes that’s right; I’m almost 25 and still coloring!

I snapped a picture of my 10+ year old box of crayons that has awesome stickers on it, and noticed I got a great snapshot of Arnold. Just look at his face! He means business!

I do a lot of coloring during the holiday season when the specialty coloring books are at the dollar store. I find that I Halloween and Christmas are my favorite holidays to get some coloring in. Not only is it fun and an easy way to relax, but I’ve also found it to be a great stress reliever. Whenever the kids I babysit mention coloring, I jump right at the opportunity and get more into it then them!

What are some of your go-to ways to relieve stress?

I also find that getting an early night’s sleep, reading a juicy chick flick book or movie, and working out all help me!

Friday

Today hasn’t been off to the best start. I woke up around 1:30 am with a weird stomach bug that kept me in the bathroom for quite a bit. My coworker’s boyfriend got hit with a nasty bug earlier in the week and my boss is out sick today with the bug so it might be Scott’s fault! It’s always easier to blame the men, am I right? 😉

I contemplated taking a sick day, then decided against it, then contemplated not running, but decided to give it a shot. I figured if I could run, I could work. That’s my theory for pretty much everything.

Running wasn’t as bad as I was expecting. I took it easy but still managed to cover a good amount of ground.

Morning Workout

• 3.6 mile run
• 50 crunches
• 2 sets of 20 mountain climbers
• 50 heel touchers
• 2 sets of 10 burpee to push-up to bicep curl to shoulder press, 8 lb. dumbbells
• Side plank lateral raise, 8 lb. dumbbells, each side

The last two exercises are actually part of today’s strength workout that I have later on this evening, but I wanted to get some of the exercises out of the way this morning so that I had enough time to get everything done on my lunch hour.

Breakfast

I haven’t had much of an appetite today, but I did eat a little after my workout so that I could give a little protein loving to my muscles. I typically don’t get hungry after a morning workout but I’ve been a stickler about the fact that if you don’t eat soon after a workout, then you basically lose some of the benefits of your workout if you don’t help repair your muscles.

I enjoyed half of a grapefruit, which was super juicy, just what I needed (!), and a berry protein shake.

Into the shake went:

• ½ scoop Designer Whey Strawberry protein
• ½ frozen banana
• 1 cup Almond Breeze Unsweetened Vanilla Almond Milk
• ¼ cup frozen raspberries
• Several ice cubes

It was nice and sweet, just what I was in the mood for!

Time to tackle this Friday work day and crossing my fingers that I feel better as the day goes on. Hope everyone’s having a fun Friday!
