Oh Hey Holiday Weight Gain

If there was a day that I could sleep until it was time for bed, today would be the day. Yesterday drained every ounce of energy and spunk I had from my body.

I left work at 12:30 for my 6th training session with Heather, and right when I found her in the gym she told me that she made her last client puke. I’m not sure if that was Heather’s goal for me, but if it was, she almost succeeded. Holy crap I’ve never been worked so hard in such a long time. It hurt so good! (If I wrote this post last night there would not have been any exclamation points after that last sentence, and based on how my body is NOT moving today, I think that exclamation point is solely for effect).

Heather had me doing my dreaded burpee dumbbell combo from hell, sumo squats with weight plates, pulse squats on steps, jump squats on steps, chest flies, rows, and core work from hell. There were only 2 small spots on my shirt that weren’t covered in sweat; otherwise, I looked like I had been thrown into a pool. In 57 minutes, Heather had me burn 456 calories, and was in the fat burning zone for 36 of those 57 minutes.

Once I got home, I showered and ate a bowl of oatmeal with peanut butter and apple butter, which actually wasn’t satisfying at all. Such a bummer! Once Ryan got home from the gym (yes he got to watch me go through hell!) and he showered and ate, we tore Chelsey away from her work and headed out to the Merrimack Outlets with my Mom to browse the sales and return several Christmas items.

I ended up leaving with quite the appetite and also a new pair of dark wash jeans and clearance earrings from American Eagle.

By the time we got back into town, it was 7 pm, and Ry, Chels and my parents had dinner plans with Ry’s best friend, Tim, his wife and his parents. Unfortunately I had to pass on the dinner since my body was physically and mentally exhausted, and the thought of being out until about 10 was just not appealing to me at all.

So instead, I pretty much ate everything in the fridge, blogged about Christmas, and put away clean gym clothes with the help of Kip and his new stuffed alligator.

This morning I woke up feeling like a football team trampled over me. My inner thighs burn, my arms hurt to lift, and my core is sore, but I know this is a great thing to be suffering through.

Morning Workout

• 4 mile run
• 50 crunches
• 50 heel touchers
• 1 minute plank hold
• 40 plank tucks
• Stretching

I wasn’t sure how a morning run would pan out, but I surprised myself by covering 4 miles pretty quickly!

I have a confession to make that I think most of us can also admit to. I went overboard with holiday treats. Having Christmas cookies and chocolate around the house has definitely not been friendly on my waist. Coupled with Ryan being home, that means our pantry is packed with chips and other unhealthy temptations that I’ve given in to. I’ve put off weighing myself for a solid week and a half and when I woke up this morning I felt like complete shit. I knew I wasn’t going to like the number on the scale but I had to step on it to face the truth and tackle my weight loss starting this morning. I wasn’t pleased with the number, and even though it wasn’t as high as I was expecting, I easily gained 2 pounds since the 19th.

So, starting today, I am on a god damn mission to tone up, lose weight, and be at a healthy weight. After seeing myself from several bad angles in Christmas pictures, I knew that was the last straw. This morning, I opened excel and created a weight tracker. Having specific dates to track my weight make it mandatory. I’m starting off weighing myself every 2 days, which will add up to 3 times a week. I know there are many opinions on how often one should weigh themselves, but I need the accountability and this is what works for me (for now).

My next weigh in is scheduled for Sunday, and I am determined to weigh a little less than I do today.

Did you guys slip up during the Holidays and paying for the weight gain now? If so, how do you plan on conquering the weight gain? I love hearing new and different ways!

Killer Workout and Killer Healthy Muffin

Last night my Aunt Judy, who hosts Christmas every year, sent out an email with what each family/individual brought to the feast and also highlighted special guests and fun activities we enjoyed. With the Christmas list generated, I am anxiously reading through blogs and browsing Pinterest in hopes of finding a delicious and creative dessert to bring. So that’s what my day has basically been comprised of. Oh and work too, but less of that and more of dessert browsing. Priorities people. 😉

Today’s awesomeness has been, well, purely awesome. Not only did I get a great workout in today, but I also have enjoyed quite a few yummy meals.

Before we get to the fun food, let’s talk about workouts.

Last Night’s Personal Training

Last night Heather put me through a bitching workout. In between dripping pounds of sweat on the gym floor and guzzling water, I made sure she knew how crazy she was. Just look at her nasty workout she put me through last night and tell me you wouldn’t be cursing her out too.

The one thing I love about this workout is that I can easily do it at my home gym in my basement. We have several different bars from when my brother lifted weights at home so I’m happy to report that this one will be done in the comforts of my home and not in front of my coworker. Yup, my ass was a foot in front of my coworkers face while I did those stupid burpees and he did some type of core work. Talk about awkward!

Today’s Workout

• 5 mile run
• 1 minute plank hold
• 50 crunches
…followed by this sucker!

My run was ridiculously easy, and by easy I mean I wasn’t huffing and puffing and swearing at my midg legs to keep me going. I’m not going to say anything so that I don’t jinx myself, but I might have blogged last week about my runs being more difficult due to the workouts from my trainer. Not sure what’s happening this week, but I love how toned my arms and back have become, and my legs are feeling much better as well. I’ll just blame the running improvements on my physical improvements.

This morning, even though I was pressed for time and running late, I decided I wanted to switch up my meals for the day.

I started my morning off with half of a grapefruit. I just love tangy sweetness to kick off my mornings, with half of a mini cup of applesauce, the rest was used for lunch, and a protein shake to go. This time, I only made my shake with milk. No frozen naners, ice or spinach. Wah.

I stayed true to my breakfast #2 of a Chobani strawberry power bowl, which included flax seed, chia seeds, raw oats and PB2. I CAN’T give that goodness up. Chobani will be included in my “last meal,” no doubt about that!

Lunch is where the big change came. I decided to leave my grilled chicken, sweet potatoes and cherry tomatoes for tomorrow and had the urge to try STUFT Mama’s Healthy Apple Microwave Muffin.

This had to have been one of the easiest and healthiest recipes for a quick meal or snack. I followed the recipe exactly, aside from subbing cinnamon for the nutmeg, and microwaved the muffin for 5 minutes exactly. Perfect timing.

I reheated it at work and topped it with the remnants of my PB2 and a tablespoon of Land o’ Lakes Cinnamon Sugar butter spread since I’ve been dying to try it for months and didn’t have enough PB2.

Kristin you are a genius and I love you forever. If I still lived in California I’d sure as hell be having muffin mug dates with you pretty much every single day.

You guys HAVE to try this! I can’t wait to try Kristin’s other variations on the muffin. I’m thinking my next one will have to be a moist chocolately version as a little nighttime dessert.

Time for the Christmas movies!

Double Digits December

Happy double digits December!

I cannot believe that it is already December 10th. This month and year has flown by way too quickly. It seems like so much has happened so far this year:

Last night I cozied up by the fire with the tree in the background while I watched a holiday favorite, 12 Men of Christmas.

If you love Josh Hopkins from Cougar Town and are a fan of yearly calendars with half-naked men, then you’ll love this one. Just watch it with your girls and not your man. 😉

This morning I woke up and had an amazing run, despite last night’s workout which was full of squats on the Smith Machine and elevated lunges.

Morning Workout

  • 3.8 mile run
  • 4 sets of 15 stair push-ups
  • 1 minute plank hold
  • 50 heel touchers
  • 30 toe touches
  • 2 sets of 20 mountain climbers
  • 30 second wall sit
  • 50 twisted crunches
  • Stretching

Breakfast was a feast. Seriously not sure where my appetite came from since I stuffed face last night during movie time, but my stomach required a lot of nourishment.

Along with half of a grapefruit, I enjoyed a green mustache courtesy of the spinach in my chocolate protein shake.

Then I had one of my Momma’s mini Pumpkin muffins that she made yesterday, along with a Chobani Mango power bowl, which included chia seeds, flaxseeds and raw oats.

My Mom actually told me I couldn’t take credit, buttttttt I will say that these are the EXACT same pumpkin muffins I made, except she went for the minis. Now she’s trying to steal my thunder! 😉

I also enjoyed an undocumented banana dipped into PB2 before enjoying grilled chicken and half of a baked sweet potato.

This afternoon I have personal training session #4 with Heather so I’ll be skipping my lunch time workout like I typically do on Mondays. I’m thinking it’s going to be a killer leg day, but that’s just my intuition speaking.

Alright, time to get back to work and get psyched for tonight’s workout! Hope everyone’s having a great Monday.

I Hate Burpees

As I sit here at my computer, the actual typing of this post is literally painful. Last night, after battling a case of hot flashes and the chills at work, Heather put me through a workout that made me want to cry. My arms were screaming bloody murder, and this morning, they’re screaming revenge on Heather.

It was such a quick workout, but it definitely wasn’t easy. Once we got to the TRX area, the first words out of her mouth were, “burpee time.”

Bugh, seriously!

I don’t hate burpees, but I don’t like them either. The only time I hate them is when I wear a loose shirt and people are around. Check and check.

Now I know I have abs of steel (I can dream!), but I hate the idea of being watched and critiqued by outsiders while my shirt is flip-flopping in the wind with my stomach in full view. It’s just not cute.

The burpee workout had me holding two 10-lb dumbbells. I’d place the dumbbells on the ground, hop back, do a push up, hop up, do a bicep curl to an overhead press. 15 bloody times.

We then headed to the cables to do 2 different chest/shoulder/back workouts which included crossing my arms in an X and hugging a tree. I left my paper in my car so that’s as technical as we’ll get. 😉

This was followed by 2 variations of TRX cable pull-ups, high and low, side planks with a lateral dumbbell raise with a hip dip, and finally jump squats into overhead presses.

This workout was repeated once but it was hated for the entire night.

When I got home, I was feeling a lot better than earlier in the day, and no longer suffered the hot and cold flashes. I enjoyed Thanksgiving #2 leftovers and then settled on the couch with a bag of pretzel sticks. I was seriously lacking in the carbs department and needed comfort food while I watched a Christmas movie.

I was out cold by 8:30 last night and slept like a rock, but with all that sleep, I still needed MORE. Don’t you just hate how long it can take for your body to recover from several hard and tiring days?

I contemplated taking a personal day, then quickly decided against it and gave my morning run a shot. It was a lot easier than I had anticipated, but I’ve noticed ever since I’ve started working with my personal trainer, that my runs have become more difficult. I realize it’s from the workouts Heather has been putting me through, but boy, my mornings are 10 times more difficult now!

Morning Workout

• 3.2 mile run
• 1 minute plank
• 50 heel touchers
• 50 crunches
• 30 toe touchers
• 100’s abs
• 2 sets of 13 standing dumbbell side crunches
• Stretching

This is how we do planks in my house. Jake ALWAYS has to sit underneath my chest. I feel bad when I drip an incredible amount of sweat on him, but he never seems phased. He keeps me going. My little motivator for not crashing on him.

Breakfast was once again half of a grapefruit and a chocolate protein shake before work and a Chobani pomegranate yogurt bowl several hours later at work.

I have my legs & arms workout scheduled for today, but my body is so sore that I’m contemplating either taking the day off completely or just doing light cardio for a little at the gym.

Tonight I’ll be heading to my cousin Lindze’s house to have dinner and spend the evening with her and her husband, Mike, so an evening workout isn’t doable.

I’ll have to decide quickly!

Will Someone Please Chop My Legs Off?

My. Legs. Are. Killing. Me. And by “killing” I mean, painful, murderous, cringe-worthy cramping. Basically, SOS.

I know I mentioned the workout Heather put me through last night, but here’s the workout in her own words:

In my words, it’s the death workout brought to you by the fittest chick around and completed by an innocent and helpless participant; me.

My legs were so tight when I woke up that I almost crumpled to the floor when I got out of bed. I instantly knew my morning run wasn’t going to be much of a run, and I told myself if I could make it through 2 miles that that would be fantastic.

By .15 miles I wanted to cut my legs off, but I kept going and pushed through the pain and decided to run in increments of .50 miles, stretch my legs, run .50 again, stretch, and continually repeating until I had to get ready for work.

I miraculously made it to 3 miles; don’t ask me how I did that because I don’t even know. I clearly wasn’t running with my legs, so it must’ve been all heart carrying me.

Morning Workout

  • 3 mile run, .20 mile walk
  • 50 heel touchers
  • 30 toe touchers
  • 50 scissors
  • 2 sets of 50 crunches
  • 1 minute plank

Before work, I enjoyed half of an undocumented grapefruit and a chocolate cookies & cream protein shake. I’ve been out of spinach for 2 days so I’ve been missing that little all-star from my morning shakes. Luckily he’ll return tomorrow!

I got hungry pretty quickly at work, and tried a new version of oatmeal. Plain oatmeal with almond milk with a chunk of PB2 on top. Verdict: Awful. Not too sure what all those crazy bloggers are talking about when they rave about this! 😉

After several bites and a full stomach, I tossed about ¾ of the bowl in the trash. It was too bland and not worth the calories. What a perfectly good waste of my PB2! Is there a secret to this bowl to make it delish? I think my issue was that I pre-cooked the oats last night and reheated the bowl this morning. Probably just not enough peanut butter. Duh!

My hunger has held off for the most part all morning, but with my legs & arms workout scheduled for my lunch break, I know I’ll need fuel, so I’m enjoying a mushy apple and a handful of almonds.

Now it’s time for my legs & arms workout. Poor legs!

I’m soooo dreading my 4 sets of 30 step-ups!

P.S, what’s the weather like in your area today?

It just started snowing in New Hampshire!

Seizing Legs and Momma’s Birthday!

What a workout Heather put me through this evening. She had my legs shaking and seizing like an earthquake, and at one point when I mentioned how sweaty I was, she pointed out that I was so drenched that it looked like I had just showered. Aint that sexy!

I was literally dripping sweat onto the floor with every body movement. So stinkin’ gross!

Heather had my workout centered around the dredded Smith Machine, where I did 3 sets of 10 squats with different variations with my stance. The first I was wide legged, the 2nd set my feet were shoulder-width apart, and the 3rd set my feet were together. Heather then put my through sumo squats, before I did weighted bar lunges and shoulder work.

Thankfully my cousin Nikki who was at the gym taking a spinning class came over to say bye to me after her class and she saved me by giving me a quick breather in between sets.

Then it was back to Heather kicking my ass, but I love the pain. She makes pain feel so good, and she laughs at my jokes so I couldn’t ask for a better trainer. 😉

When I got home I fixed myself another batch of 3-Ingredient Healthy Pancakes, before we started to celebrate my Mom’s birthday and my parent’s 32nd wedding anniversary.

My Mom got her favorite Yankee Candle, Pink Sands, along with the car freshener, a book, an Imax and Nook gift card, a sweater and tank top and Bath & Body Works Christmas scented plug-ins.

Ryan and I also got them a $75 gift card to The Library, an expensive restaurant they went to on the seacoast for their anniversary last year.

Then it was time to celebrate with strawberry cheesecake.

Oh my goodness. I dug right into my slice and didn’t feel guilty one bit. Hey, I kicked ass at the gym this evening so it was earned!

Now I’m snuggled on the couch and watching the 2-night finale of Dancing with the Stars. Go Kelly & Val!

I’ve Got a Double Whammy Post-Holiday Monday Blues

I don’t know about you guys, but it sure was difficult to get up this morning, plus it didn’t help that I stayed up until 10 pm watching Hitched for the Holidays, with heartthrob Joey Lawrence.

Typically I am in bed and reading from 9 until 10, or before if I’m exhausted, that way I don’t have the annoying TV syndrome to keep me wired and awake late into the night. Last night I made an exception since I was in the holiday mood, and I just have to gush over how funny and cute the movie was!

By the time I was in brushed and in bed, it was a little after 10, and I HAD to listen to Lisha explain a new show on MTV, so I was ready for shuteye around quarter of 11. Ick.

In all seriousness, have you guys heard of the show called, Catfish? We think the title is a ripoff of Plentyoffish. According to Lisha, it’s almost like, “True Life,” but the people on the show have been dating someone online for years + and they contact this man who I’m assuming is the host of the show to schedule a meeting.

Just read Lisha’s descriptions:

Basically I NEED to watch this show, especially since I love online dating! Luckily I’ve never had horror stories like this before, and only some guys have looked a little different in person.

This morning I woke up 5 minutes before my alarm was scheduled to go off. Isn’t that the worst? I was so excited to look at the clock and get a warm greeting that I still had several extra hours to sleep, but not this morning.

I dragged myself out of bed and pouted in the bathroom before I went for a miserable run. My body is definitely not used to running this early, even if it had only been since Wednesday that I ran at 6.

Morning Workout

  • 3.7 mile run
  • 3 sets of 15 stair push-ups
  • 1 minute plank and 30 seconds each side
  • 50 crunches and 50 side-to-side crunches
  • 50 heel touchers
  • 100’s abs
  • 30 scissors
  • Stretching

It felt great to be pressed for time again and be able to get down to business with my workouts. I think lacking that time frame to get my workouts in on the weekends result in me ignoring my core or strength work. I lollygag on the weekends, what can I say, it’s a talent.

Before heading out the door to work, I enjoyed half of a juicy grapefruit and a chocolate cookies & cream protein shake. I had to mix it up this morning since I ran out of the protein I was using before, but damn, that shake was so satisfying!

I didn’t have time to snap a picture but into the shake went:

  • 8 oz almond milk
  • ½ scoop each of chocolate protein and cookies & cream protein
  • Handful of ice cubes
  • 3 frozen banana slices

2 hours later I had a more substantial 2nd half of my breakfast and enjoyed a Chobani power bowl which included Mango Chobani and ½ TBSP each of: flax seed, raw oatmeal and chia seeds.

I have about half a day left of work before I have my 2nd training session with Heather, my personal trainer!

And a special Happy Birthday to my mom and an extra special Happy Anniversary to parents!

I Survived Personal Training!

I did something today that I never do. I took a sick day. Okay, technically no, but I took a sick “morning,” and went into work 3 hours later, at 11.

I needed it. I woke up around 1 am with a sinus headache. My jaw and eyes were killing me, my throat was hoarse, and I had a headache and a stuffy nose. I was so sexy. I couldn’t fall back asleep for quite a bit and I just knew that the morning wasn’t going to be pretty.

When my alarm went off at 5:25, I got up, looked in the mirror and my exact thoughts were, “oh hell no!” I crawled back into bed, snoozed until 6, let my boss and coworker know I’d be late and slept until quarter of 8. I woke up feeling amazing, even though I was still blowing my nose every 10 seconds.

I managed to get a 4 mile run in. Don’t ask me how. My lungs were struggling and my nose was running, so it took me a lot longer than usually, but I had time on my side so it was allllll good.

Morning Workout

• 4 mile run
• 50 heel touchers
• 30 toe touches
• 50 crunches: regular, left and right
• 1 minute plank hold
• 2 sets of 20 mountain climbers • Stretching

After my run, I multi-tasked with core work and watching Kelly & Michael, which I was extremely excited about since I’m never home to watch their show. Kelly Ripa is my idol. So pretty, hilarious, witty and down to earth. I’m sure she’d say the same about me if she met me. 😉

I enjoyed a summer breakfast, even though it was only 30 degrees out.

I went for my go-to chocolate peanut butter banana protein shake, half of a grapefruit and a clementine. I was all about the citrusy flavors this morning!

I haven’t had the biggest appetite at all today. Okay, scratch that. It’s nonexistent, but I’m forcing myself to eat small meals since I’ve been told I need more calories. It’s hard enough to consumer several hundred additional calories when you’re already full, but when you’re sick and have to force yourself to eat breakfast or lunch, it’s even harder because I know I’ll be under my recommended goal for today. Oh well, that is life!

My lunch, or snack eaten during the lunch hour was delish… even with no appetite!

I enjoyed a Chobani power bowl, which consisted of strawberry Chobani yogurt, chia seeds, old-fashioned oats, PB2 and flax seed. Alright, sometimes eating regardless of your hunger is fun. 😉

Last night I had my first personal training session. I can’t put it any simpler, but, I LOVE my trainer. She’s kick-ass, fierce, funny, and nice. She pushed me to the limit last night and I loved every second of it, including my seizing legs and shaky arms.

Since I got to the gym 20 minutes early, I warmed up with a fast-paced walk on the treadmill to get my heart rate up, before heading to the front desk to talk with Jeremy until Heather was ready.

Heather put me right into the workout, and had me work my legs with a series of squats with a stability ball, step-ups, leg curls, and sidekicks. After completing that circuit, we did arm work, which consisted of using machines for my triceps, biceps and shoulders. Both of these circuits were repeated twice, and boy was I dripping in sweat!

This girl knows how to work you. She’s more of the Bob Harper type, which I absolutely prefer.

After my workout we talked about some topics I had on my mind before we said our goodbyes and I chatted with Jeremy again before calling it a night.

All I can say is that having a personal trainer is going to be money well spent and I can already tell that Heather is eager to push me to get the results we both want for me.

Merry early Christmas to me! 😉

Overcoming Fears

This morning when I turned the light on in my bedroom I found a bloody tissue chilling on the floor. I never have bloody noses so I was a little worried, especially because the tissue appeared to be soaked in blood. My pillow cases or clothing weren’t stained either and there were no blood stains on my face.

Turns out, every damn time I blow my nose, blood comes out. Seriously. Every. Damn. Time. Rumor has it, it’s due to the dry air, but it’s getting old, especially since yesterday I woke up with an awful headache from blowing my nose.

All I know is that this cold better find the exit door as soon as possible. This sucker has drained me for the past week!

I managed to squeak out a 3.5 mile run, in between having to stop and blow my bloody nose roughly every half mile. Talk about annoying! I wasn’t feeling an extreme core workout either. I more so did what I felt like doing and what I had time to do. I blame it on Jake and Kip for distracting me. Sometimes you just want to smoosh your dog’s face in and shower your kitty with kisses. I’m not sorry.

Morning Workout

• 3.5 bloody miles
• 2 sets of 15 stair push-ups
• 50 heel touchers
• 30 toe touches
• 50 side crunches, each side
• 1 minute plank hold
• 2 sets of 20 plank knee tucks
• Stretching

In my quest to consume more calories (the horror!), I found it to be a good sign that I was hungry an hour earlier than usual, and I went for my Raspberry Mango Overnight Oats. To be honest, late last night I was contemplating not bring my oats in for breakfast today because of the high calorie content that I shockingly became aware of on Friday.

Needless to say, I ate it anyways, mainly because since I have my first session with my personal trainer tonight, I wanted to make sure I was properly fueled. What better way than to enjoy a big breakfast. As I’m typing this at 3 pm, I’m already at 1,127, with my goal being between 1,200 and 1,550. I’m nervous and truly hoping I don’t go over that. Honestly, how the hell have I consumed that much already?!

Before hitting the gym, I snacked on a Fuji apple and trail mix that I made with almonds and raisins.

Raisins, yum! I’m that weirdo who picks all the raisins out of trail mix to eat first because they are so damn addicting. If someone bought me a big tub of raisins for Christmas I’d probably give it the best present award. All seriousness. They’re that good. In fact, give me YOUR raisins.

My main goal for my lunch time workout was to get a sweat without getting intense. With my uptake in calories, I wanted to make sure I got a chunk of cardio in while not overdoing it for training tonight.

Mission accomplished. I warmed up for a quarter of a mile, ran a mile and a half, and walked at an increased speed at my fat burning heart rate for another quarter of a mile. I attempted the elliptical, but my burning legs told me I was harming them, so I jumped back on the treadmill to finish my workout with a quarter of a mile walk.

Felt amazing and I worked up an appetite. AGAIN. This time, I went for leftover grilled chicken from Saturday; sugar snap peas that I forget I picked up at Trader Joe’s 2 weekends ago, and roasted sweet potato chunks that I prepared last night.

So good! I saved about half of the chicken and one sweet potato chunk (yes 1) to eat before training tonight.

In regards to my first session of personal training tonight, I’m nervous! My appointment is at 5:30, which is one of THE busiest times at my gym. I’m more nervous to do exercises that I’m not used to in front of everyone. Now, I know that most people are zeroed in on their workout and won’t be watching me, but come on; we all know the gym is a great spot for people watching. I’ve been that girl who watches people workout while running or as a means to pass time on the elliptical.

What I’m telling myself to build my confidence is that months ago I was terrified of joining this gym because everyone is so intensely dedicated to being fit there, but I sucked it up and fell in love. The 2nd and 3rd thing is, I only have to do this with a trainer once a week, AND I’m bound to get in the best shape of my life.

Sometimes, you just have to suck it up, put on your big girl sports bra, and get out of your comfort zone to earn the results you crave.

Personal Training & Christmas Shopping!

Last night I had the privilege of watching my 3 favorite kiddos. We had fun playing games, cooking dinner and my favorite part of the night, convincing them to watch one of my favorite childhood movies, Harriet the Spy.

I’m not sure if the kids enjoyed the movie or not, I was too afraid to ask them because I knew if they said they didn’t enjoy it, I would have freaked out and kept asking why they hated it. Realistically I just didn’t want to hear them say it sucked. I heard no complaints though! 😉

This morning I woke up at 9 and immediately went for a quick 2.5 mile run. I showered as quickly as possible and scoffed down a new breakfast. That’s right, no overnight oats! It was nice to be able to enjoy something different but still just as delicious for breakfast.

I literally made out with the grapefruits after I ate all of the slices just to get EVERY LAST DROP of juice. The juice is so sweet and so addicting.

Do you guys enjoying squeezing the remains into a jar to drink?

After finishing up my breakfast I headed over to my gym since I had a meeting with Jeremy, who is Gold’s Gym‘s  nutritionist. I should also mention that he should have made People Magazine’s Sexiest Man Alive edition. What a babe!

We discussed my goals and my fear of needing to consume more calories than I already do in order to lose weight. He drew diagrams and pictures in order to explain to me how my calorie intake and daily calories burned work together, and how I gain weight when the proper porportions are out of whack.

(We got distracted when we both realized we were peanut butter addicts and overnight oats lovers. Seriously my soulmate, especially since I’m the only other person he knows who loves overnight oats.)

We then discussed calorie intake, Jeremy measured my body fat, punched in several numbers into equations and came up with a game plan for me to reach a realistic and healthy weight. Jeremy wants me to lose 15 pounds of body fat and gain 10 pounds of lean mass.

Jeremy then brought me into the gym and put me through about 8 exercises involving TRX cables and kettleballs. I went through a series of squats, pull-ups, and was also showed where my heart rate had to be at in order to be at the best fat burning rate.

After my workout with Jeremy, I was dripping in sweat and when he asked how it was, I told him he made me sweat more than I do when I run.

What was supposed to be 45 minutes to an hour meeting turned into 2 hours. After my workout we discussed personal training, and he signed me up for 12 visits, which I will use once a week for 3 months. Unfortunately Jeremy can’t take on clients, so he chose a former college soccer athlete to train me. Heather, who will be my personal trainer, is in impecabble shape. Her body is rockin’ and she seems extremely nice but also very kickass. Jeremy told me that Heather incorporates a lot of kettleballs and TRX cable work, and has the same certifications as him. Basically it’s the female Jeremy.

I’ve used SparkPeople to track every bite of food that has entered my mouth today. Jeremy encouraged me to keep a list of all of my meals and to bring it to my first training session on Monday, and they will create meal plans that include the foods I enjoy and will also recommend other foods and meals. This is what I’m looking forward to the most, as I will have a certified nutritionist and trainer recommend my specific targeted calorie intake and help me choose the correct foods and meals to reach my limit.

This is seriously what I need. Someone to tell me what to eat and when. Finally!

After leaving the gym, I finished up with a mile and a half run since I was already sweating. I whipped up a quick Chocolate Peanut Butter Banana protein shake, packed up a powerbowl snack for the afternoon, and headed to the Merrimack Premium Outlets to get a head start on Christmas shopping.

While I can’t discuss what I bought, I can say that I bought something for my Mom, Dad and Ryan. I also enjoyed browsing around Reebok, Puma, Nike and Under Armour for ideas to add to my Christmas list. 😉

I DID treat myself at Yankee Candle with the cutest Christmas votive holder and a Christmas scented candle. That combo only set me back $5.50. Not bad! 😉

When you guys shop, what types of items do you lean towards?

I ALWAYS get extremely excited for new workout clothes. I’d much rather receive new workout clothes than regular clothes. I’m so weird!

After shopping, I enjoyed a nice BBQ dinner with both of my parents.

I enjoyed half a cup of green beans, 2.5 ounces of grilled chicken and a salad, which I put the chicken into.

I topped my salad with half of an avocado, cherry tomatoes, cucumber slices, and a cheesy Italian dressing. This dinner HIT the spot and satisfied the hunger I worked up from all of that Christmas shopping.

Now I’m cuddled up on the couch finishing a Lifetime Christmas movie and just about to pop in The Family Stone. Ugh I just LOVE Dermot Mulroney. GIMME!
