Achy Breaky Body

This morning I woke up with THE achiest body known to man-kind. Apparently my TRX workout from yesterday decided to make an appearance during the middle of the night, because when I woke up around 4 am, I could barely move my legs or arms.

A sore body, coupled with waking up every hour on the hour to blow my nose, left me with a burning headache and a tired body when I woke around quarter of 9.

I headed downstairs, grabbed half of a grapefruit, and enjoyed a Chobani powerbowl while I watched last weeks’ episode of Parks & Rec.

Into my powerbowl went a bowl of Chobani strawberry, old-fashioned oats, PB2, chia seeds and finely diced walnuts. The peanut butter added a nice twist to the bowl, and seriously reminded me of pb & j. This hit the spot and fueled me through my 4 mile run at Gold’s Gym this morning.

I didn’t have an appetite at all after my run but I knew I needed to properly fuel my body so I went for dippy eggs!

Dippy eggs with a clementine. Sweet sweet breakfast!

After showering up, I cleaned the house and then had a movie date with my momma to see the new Twilight movie, Breaking Dawn Part 2. I’m not going to give anything away, but the surprise ending was AMAZING. Yes, shouty capitals are tremendously necessary. During the credits 2 groups of ladies almost got into a brawl right next to me. There was a, “did you just kick me, bitch?” thrown, followed by a, “the lady who smells of beer.” Ohhhh gotta love older woman causing drama. These ladies were honestly in their 30’s and also late 60’s.

I was just thankful that there wasn’t a cat fight on top of me!

The rest of my evening consisted of grocery shopping (joy!) and doing today’s P90X strength workout, Chest/Shoulder/Tri, followed by core work while I watched The Most Wonderful Time of the Year, another one of my top Christmas movies.

Core Work

  • 2 sets of 50 regular crunches
  • 50 side crunches, each side
  • 50 heel touchers
  • 50 scissors
  • 2 sets of 13 dead-lifts
  • 2 sets of 13 standing dumbbell side crunches

The movie started at 6 on Hallmark and I couldn’t NOT watch it, so what better way to triple-task while I blog, work my core and watch Christmas movies.

Now it’s time to watch Christmas movies the rest of the night and brainstorm meals for tomorrow!

Hope everyone had a wonderful Sunday! 🙂

Working a Trade Show While Sick

I am currently dying on my couch while watching the Disney Channel because I’m 10 years old sick and can do whatever I damn well please.

It was a long day before I was able to park my booty on the couch, even though I did get out of work an hour and a half earlier.

I woke up feeling the worst I have all week, and as much as I wanted to call out sick, I had trade show duty today, and the last thing I wanted to do was screw over my coworkers.

So I sucked it up and squeezed in a workout to the best of my ability.

  • 3.5 mile run
  • 3 sets of 25 stair push-ups
  • 1 minute plank hold and :30 second side holds
  • 50 heel touchers
  • 30 toe touches
  • 50 crunches and 50 side-to-side crunches
  • 2 sets of 20 mountain climbers
  • Stretching

This little boy even watched me while I stretched and worked on my core. He’s such a cutie. All I wanted to do was play with him instead of workout.

I spent the first half of my morning at work, where I constantly blew my nose and banged my head against my monitor. I had zero appetite but forced a bowl of overnight oats into my mouth before leaving for the trade show, which really sucked since I wasn’t hungry.

This was my day. The man in the suspenders is an accurate indication of how exciting the visitors were, although I did keep my eye open for all of the babes. My conclusion was that all cuties wore a ring. Woof.

I had this basket next to me for a good 4 hours and managed to avoid the temptation. Not a single piece! Instead, I attacked the complimentary fruit bowls that The Radisson put out and grabbed an orange to get a little Vitamin C!

Okayyyyy, so I might have grabbed 3 additional oranges, 3 pears, 3 clementines, 4 boxes of mini raisins and other fun swag!

Grocery shopping done! 😉

I cleared the place out. I need help!

Alright, it’s time to go eat my raisins, oranges and continue watching little kid shows while I get a little energy in me to complete tonight’s P90X Kenpo X before vegging all night.

Happy almost weekend!

Sexiest Man Alive and a Broccoli Overload

Mark this as VERY IMPORTANT:

People Magazine announced the Sexiest Man Alive late this morning and I am not pleased.

Okay, fine. Channing Tatum does look MARVELOUS in that beater, and tweed pants and freckled shoulders ensemble he’s rocking. I’ll give him that. I like Channing when he’s trim, but beefy Channing is not a sexy Channing. Sure, sure he stole my heart in The Vow, well by the end of the movie he did, but, Sexiest Man Alive? Nope. Not even close.

Oh hey, baby. Now THAT’S more like it. Gimme a piece of McDreamy! 😉 Sexiest Man Alive right there ladies and gentlemen. Don’t argue, you won’t win.

In all seriousness, who do you think should have taken the Sexiest Man Alive title?

Ever year I petition for Patrick Dempsey and every year I lose. That’s okay, he holds the title in my heart. Seriously though, hands off, he’s mine.

Last night my appetite magically disappeared. By disappeared, I mean that after work, dinner consisted of a handful of Special K crackers and 1 White Choco-Chip Butternut Square. Yes, only 1. That’s all I ate from 5:30 pm until 10:30 am. No rumbling belly, no junk food craving. A spoonful of peanut butter wasn’t even appealing to me.

I typically get cravings for an entire jar of peanut butter when I’m full and still go after it anyways because I’m a fatty I treat myself. 😉

Woke up once during the middle of the night, had to go downstairs for something, walked by the kitchen and cabinets and the plate full of squares, and didn’t even have the slightest craving for anything.

The world MUST be ending. I’m telling you there are some weird things going on!

My workout was kick ass and I loved the burn I got from my core workout. That was easily the All-Star of today’s workout.

Wednesday’s Workout

  • 5 mile run
  • 4 sets of 15 stair push-ups
  • 1 minute plank and 30 second side plank holds
  • 2 sets of 20 mountain climbers
  • 2 sets of 50 heel touchers
  • 50  vertical toe touches
  • 150 crunches: 50 regular, left and right
  • 100’s Abs
  • 20 minutes interval on vertical elliptical
  • Stretching

I call this one my 50’s workout. 🙂

Kip even helped me with my stretching and foam rolling. That boy does NOT look amused. That or he’s just sad that he knows I’ll be leaving for work soon. 😦

Breakfast included a little twist on my usual Raspberry Mango Overnight Oats. This morning, I opened my snack drawer to see if I could throw more in the bowl and was pleased when my PB2 and flax-seed were looking right at me.

OH. MY. GOODNESS. This was pure heaven in my mouth. I wasn’t even that hungry but I still demolished this sucker in minutes. I just love my Chobani powerbowls!

After my afternoon workout, I still wasn’t hungry at all, but I knew that I had to eat something otherwise my workout would have been a waste if I didn’t properly nourish it. I’ve been neglecting my vegetables lately (shush I know) so I redeemed myself and enjoyed a plate full of veggies and several turkey roll-ups.

3/4 of my plate is broccoli. Holy Moses, I’m gonna be seeing green later, and I don’t mean the dollar bills either!

Tonight after work I have to make a pit-stop at my favorite store ever, Target for glitter nail polish a few beauty essentials, and then I’ll be tearing it up with my man, Tony Horton!

Laters baby. 😉

Day 30 P90X Results

Well guys, yesterday was Day 30 on the P90X challenge, and I have to say, I am LOVING my results. My arms and shoulders are more defined, my stomach is tighter and more toned, and my thighs are also slimming up!

I actually don’t think I’ve lost any weight besides the random pound or 2, but I’m happy to be toning up all over. While I am confident in my skin and love the body I have now, I still have a long ways to go to get to where I want my body to be physically.

Last night I went to Allie & Kris’ apartment to relax with them for a bit. To be honest, I wasn’t feeling good at all and my exhaustion begged me to stay home, but because we keep rescheduling, I felt bad if we had to push back hanging out again!

When I got there they were just cleaning up from the gym and getting dinner ready. Since I completed Back & Biceps before heading over, I fed my muscles with a Peanut Butter Strawberry Banana protein shake for my dinner.

We chatted about everything and nothing before cozying up on the couch to watch last weeks’ episode of Grey’s Anatomy. Allie and I used to watch Grey’s every Thursday together ever since the very first season, so it was a lot of fun to continue our tradition that we’ve had for years and years.

Allie’s my person. We’ve been quoting that line to each other every since Meredith and Christina said it to one another. I love that girl to death. 🙂

This morning I woke up feeling like death. Extreme sore throat and an achy body… with tight calves. Ouchies!

I wasn’t feeling a workout, but I knew I’d feel better after. Or so I thought.

I knew 4 miles was going to be impossible with how tight my calves were. I meant to foam roll them last night but I just remembered now that I was supposed to do that. Opps!

I took it easy with my workout and told myself that I can run as slow as I need to as long as I’m moving.

Morning Workout

• 3.6 mile run
• 3 sets of 15 stair push-ups
• 1 minute plank hold
• 2 sets of 20 mountain climbers
• 100’s Abs
• Stretching & foam rolling… finally!

I haven’t had too big of an appetite yet today, but I did enjoy roughly 2/3 of my Raspberry Mango Overnight Oats just to get something into my stomach.

I think I put a little too many chia seeds. Good thing they’re healthy! 😉

Hope everyone is having a healthier Tuesday than I am. Please send me Vitamin C and healthy air hugs. Thanks! 🙂

Cat Food for Lunch

While some of you readers have the day off due to Veterans Day, I’m overtired in the office. If your boss was cool enough to give you the day off, please remember why you have the day off. I’m sure most of you had a relative or friend who has served to protect our freedom and it is especially important not to forget what they sacrificed for us.

I’m so thankful to both of my grandpas, my cousins and also friends who have served our country. I currently have a great college friend who is currently in Afghanistan and am anxious to have him back in 21 days!

Thank you to all of our heroes!

This morning started off with a meowing cat jamming his head into mine while I attempted to wash my face and “wake up” before my run. That boy seriously needs to wait his turn. He likes to lick the faucet and play in the water-filled sink, which is pretty weird since he used to hate getting even a drop of water on his fur. That boy is high-maintenance.

My morning run felt good, and I was pleased to bust out a good 4-miler. After my run I did roughly 10 minutes of core work, and I even beat Friday’s plank time trial. I went from a 1:35 plank hold to a 1:50 plank hold this morning. That’s the best improvement I’ve had since starting Tina’s 4-Week Plank Challenge.

Gotta celebrate those gains!

Morning Workout

• 4 mile run
• 4 sets of 15 stair push-ups
• 1:50 plank hold
• 100s Abs
• 2 sets of 20 mountain climbers
• 50 crunches X 3: regular, left and right
• 50 heel touches

Breakfast was a no-brainer. It felt strange eating my overnight oats for lunch yesterday instead of breakfast, so it was greeted with a warm welcome back this morning.

I was slightly stupid when it came to my lunch time workout. The past week and a half, give or take, it’s been in the mid to low 40s. Today it was a whopping 65 degrees when I went to the gym. It’s absolutely beautiful and perfect out. The sun sat nice on my shoulders and there was a faint breeze that felt oh so good. This is my “perfect” non-summer weather, and my favorite to run in.

Since I had already covered 4 miles this morning, I only wanted to run 1 additional mile and get in 20 minutes on the vertical elliptical since I have Back & Biceps for tonight’s P90X workout.

A run outdoors would have been so enjoyable, but I made sure to head out of the gym a few minutes early so that I could make my walk back to work a little bit longer. So glad I did, I feel like such a happier person for those minutes outside!

You might want to close your eyes for this. Lunch certainly looks like vomit, but I promise you that it’s delicious and full of flavors.

Before I show you my lunch, I’m giving you another chance to look away. Below you will find a mix of tuna, salsa and a slightly browned avocado. You’ve been warned.

I swear it’s not Jakes’ cat food! The flavors actually reminded me of my Mom’s addicting pasta salad. So good!

Tonight I’ll be heading to Allie & Kris’ to hang out for the night. I haven’t seen those two in a week and a half so it’ll be good to see the girls again!

Oh, and be sure to come back for my next post which will reveal a before and after photo for P90X. Today marks Day 30 of P90X which means that progress pictures are due. I’m THRILLED with my results so far!

First Date Success. Corpsman Hopkins Passed the Test

Last night I really didn’t want to go on my date. I mean really really really didn’t want to. I always enjoy talking and getting to know a guy and get excited for our date, but then when the day of the date comes around I instantly don’t want to go.

Simply put, I’m tired of always going on first dates. It’s exhausting. There’s only so many times you can keep telling a new stranger the same exact things.

I sucked it up and went. Want to know a little secret? I had the time of my life. I was a little worried when he walked into the restaurant based on his mannerisms, but he turned out to be extremely funny, sweet and playful.

Jordan and I went to T-Bones, mainly because their menu left me drooling all day yesterday, and then we went to THE sketchiest pool hall ever. I even think there could have been a gang or drug fest hidden in a corner there.

It only made it more entertaining for us, but after an hour of pool (it costs $10 an hour, crazy!), we decided to call it a night.

Jordan is a corpsman in the Coast Guard so unfortunately he’ll be heading out to VA for 3 weeks on Monday, but luckily with the holidays coming in full force, I’ll be occupied so the 3 weeks to see him again will fly by. Oh that’s right, we both enjoyed each other’s time so much that we are dying to see each other again.

My girlfriends and I have always given guys nicknames. So one of my ex’s, the night we met him at the bar, he had a black shirt on, so instead of referring to him as Matt, we’d always call him Black Shirt with one another.

Jordan I’m still debating on the nickname. Corpsman is one option, but when ever I think of the name Jordan, I automatically think of Heidi Montag’s ex-boyfriend, Jordan, from The Hills.

Then again, Corpsman also looked like Josh Hopkins from one of my favorite shows, Cougar Town.

I could always call him Corpsman Hopkins? I’ll let the girls weigh in on this one.

This morning I woke up bright and early to get in a good workout before spending the day with my momma.

I completed a hodgepodge run and P90X workout which looked like this:

  • 2.3 mile run
  • 10 minutes P90X Chest/Shoulder/Tri
  • .7 mile run
  • 10 minutes Chest/Shoulder/Tri
  • .5 mile run
  • 5 minutes Chest/Shoulder/Tri
  • 2 sets of 20 mountain climbers
  • 1 minute plank hold
  • 30 toe touches

I wanted to mix the run and strength training up to confuse my muscles and get the maximum burn possible. It worked!

After my workout I was famished, so I whipped up 2 dippy eggs and placed them over a Pumpkin Spice Eggo.

Get in mah belly!

Breakfast was so good but it definitely didn’t hit the spot, so I’m going to have to grab a piece of fruit to tide me over for a little bit longer.

Now I’m off with my momma to head up to Nashua for her haircut and then we’re hitting up the Trader Joe’s and the Merrimack Outlets around there after for a lot of fun shopping! I haven’t been to a Trader Joe’s since living in Los Angeles so I’m extremely excited to spend hundred of dollars there and eat all their yummy food!

Hope you guys are having a great start to your weekend!

I Kicked the Midnight Snack Habit!

I don’t know what’s been going on but for the past week I have constantly been waking up to a headache and it’s getting old to be frank.  It just sits there quietly but noticeable at the back of my head. No amount of Ibuprofen will kick it either.

I swear I’m a medical mystery, there’s always something that’s screwy with me.

Again I was out COLD last night. I put my phone away at 9:40 and slept through the entire night. It’s really insane how things play out, because if you remember, I used to always wake up in the middle of the night around 3 am and have a snack, which more times than not included peanut butter. In abundance. I discussed it on the blog because I wanted to bring it to light and hold myself accountable for my actions. I noticed that it was one of the biggest reasons in me not being able to tone up.

I used to go to bed KNOWING and TELLING myself that I’d have a snack in the middle of the night. That’s how ingrained those snacks had become in my life and mind. I wanted to kick the habit so I started counting the days that I went without a midnight snack and reported the next morning on my blog.

Well guys, I’m happy to say that I no longer go to bed telling myself I’ll be up at 3 am to eat, nor do I have to tell myself not to snack during the night. Just like eating in the middle of the night was a habit, my new habit this past month has been no midnight snacks. The thought no longer even crosses my mind when I get to sleep. Not only do I wake up feeling healthier and more energized, but I also fall asleep faster and sleep through the night.

Sometimes changing habits take time and effort, but patience is key. Remember, Rome wasn’t built in a day. Progress and change takes time, and with determination and faith, you will get there!

I’ve also noticed that my peanut butter addiction has dramactically decreased as well, which I am so pleased about. Instead of having 2 or 3 times the recommended serving, I now either stick to the recommended serving, or even less! Don’t worry, I’ll never stop eating peanut butter, because that wouldn’t be fun and then I’d have to change my blog name. Not happening! 😉

This morning’s workout was a good one, and I expected it to be since I’m using my lunch to get my pearly whites cleaned!

Morning Workout

  • 3.8 mile run
  • 3 sets of 15 stair push-ups
  • 1:43 plank hold – I beat Monday’s time by 8 seconds in Tina’s 4-Week Challenge
  • 2 sets of 20 mountain climbers
  • 50 crunches & 50 side-to-side crunches
  • 20 toe touches
  • 30 heel touchers

I used to do heel touchers in college but completely forgot about them until my coworker told me she did them at R.I.P.P.E.D the other night. These babies seriously work your obliques and you’ll feel the burning pain in no time. It hurts so good!

This morning since I was all out of my Chobani Mango, I grabbed the Strawberry Banana yogurt bowl I had left and put a spin on my usual bowl of overnight oats.

In this mix I threw frozen blueberries and raspberries and then sprinkled in ground flax seed and PB2. Holy heavens this was so good! I loved the creamy peanut butter taste that the PB2 adds. I swear whenever I have a Strawberry Banana bowl I NEED that PB2 in there. Pure (healthy) comfort food.

A little before my dentist appointment I got really hungry, so I snacked on an apple, 1 piece of my California Roll that I brought for lunch, and then a bowl of a chopped hard boiled egg and half of an avocado. This time I added salsa to the mix.

Seriously this was ten times better than the egg and avocado mashup I enjoyed Wednesday. You’d think with everything I’ve eaten so far, and yes I enjoyed a chocolate peanut butter banana protein shake after my morning workout, that I wouldn’t be ravenous. All I can account it to is an increase in my metabolism due to the strength training that P90X has thrown into my daily routine.

After getting a “very good” at my 6-month cleaning, I rewarded myself with the last 3 California Rolls and a banana dipped in PB2 powder. If you have PB2, you have to try dipping the banana in the powder. Of course it tastes better when you smear the banana with the prepared PB2, but you get enough of the peanut butter taste with each bite and you use less PB2. Double win! 🙂

I’m buzzing out of work an hour early today at 4 to get in a quick workout before my date. Crossing my fingers, I hate first dates! Ahhhh!

First Snowfall of the Winter Season

It was SO nice to be back at the gym during my lunch hour. Monday I couldn’t due to babysitting and yesterday I came in late after voting, so today was my first day back in the gym since Saturday. I missed Gold’s! There’s just something about working out at a gym with other like-minded individuals. Sure beats a treadmill run in your basement or sweating your face off in your living room with Tony Horton!

During my gym visit I ran 1.5 miles before jumping on the vertical elliptical to bust out a 17 minute interval session. I played around with the inclines: 5, 10 and 20 and had fun mixing the order up. I honestly don’t know where my time went but I feel like several months ago I was getting a lot more finished during my lunch time workouts.

My appetite has been through the roof today so I was anxious to complete my workout and shower up so I could eat a healthy lunch.

Last week I mentioned that when it comes to home-made salads, the dressing makes or breaks it. When I dine out, the salads are extremely appetizing and that’s usually my go-to order, especially if fruit and nuts are included. I find that preparing my own salad at home lacks excitement. On a scale of 1-10 it doesn’t even earn a 1, so when I found a winning salad dressing in my fridge last weekend, the at-home salad excitement scale went up dramatically.

This salad was big and crunchy, and you can bet your peanut butter hearts that I demolished the entire container. Into the bowl went a bag of Veggie Lovers salad mix, diced cherry tomatoes, diced cucumbers and shredded Sara Lee Low Sodium Turkey slices. I tossed it in an Italian dressing and called it a meal!

Today is supposed to be the first official snow fall of the winter. Ugh. Go away winter! My phone alerted me around 4 that we were in a winter storm advisory, as we’ll be getting 1-3 inches of snow, sleet and freezing rain tonight.

Why can’t the first snowfall be pretty? The only times I enjoy snow is the first snow and also on Christmas Eve and Christmas, other than that, it can go away.

Are you guys a fan of snow?

I’ve lived in New England for 24 years and have only gone snowboarding once! Growing up between New Hampshire and Vermont you’d think I’d have gotten bit by the skiing bug, but it never happened. As a kid of course I loved building forts and igloos, having snow ball fights with my friends, and going sledding, but as I’ve grown up, those activities just don’t happen anymore and I find myself cursing snow.

I think this winter I’ll change that and bring back the little kid in me! 🙂

With all this snow talk I’m becoming excited for the holidays and Christmas. I think it’s completely necessary to start my Christmas movie watching tonight with my favorite, The Christmas Card!

Pumpkin Spice Eggos for the Victory!

You guys, I HAVE to brag about the glorious afternoon snack and dinner I enjoyed last night. Both were “firsts” for me, and it definitely won’t be the last time I enjoy these meals.

Monday night was very busy as I tried to squeeze in my P90X workout before babysitting, so I didn’t have too much time to make an elaborate lunch. Since I went into work late yesterday, I knew my eating would be off, so I threw together mini snacks that would tide me over for the day. After scouring my fridge, fruit bowl and cabinets, I grabbed 2 hard-boiled eggs and the leftover avocado half from Monday’s lunch.

I’ve heard of this combination before but never tried it. I go on avocado kicks where there will be weeks where I need that little guy and weeks and months where I won’t even acknowledge it.

I sliced the eggs and avocado together and had a pretty dang delicious and healthy afternoon snack! I can only imagine the other add-ins I can incorporate in the future. I’m thinking the first mash-up NEEDS to include mango salsa. Oh yum!

After work I made a quick stop to Target to pick up 2 serious hankerings I’ve had all week. The first was a box of Pumpkin Spice Eggos. Yes, you read that correctly. They were eying me last week but my willpower was too strong for the Eggos to win. The second was Celestial Seasonings Sugar Cookie Sleigh Ride tea. I’ve read blogger after blogger obsessing over this tea and read from one Amazon reviewer that it truly helps kick the sweets cravings most of us get at night. I’ve looked at stores for days and haven’t found a place that carries it, but I KNEW Target would have it. Nothing broke my heart more than seeing the shelf wiped clean.

So I did what any grieving girl does best and grabbed ingredients for the PERFECT comfort dinner.

Cool Whip for 99 cents? Okay, sure, perfect waffle topping if you ask me!

Holy mother was this dinner good!

I might have even enjoyed 3 too many scoops of the Cool Whip straight outta the container too, but it’s okay, I ate this AFTER I did the Kenpo X P90X workout. It alllll evens out. 😉

I was hoping to submit an application and be able to relax while I watched the Election votes trickle in, but it took me longer than I thought for my application and I didn’t finish until 9:30. At that point I was physically drained, so I watched several minutes of the coverage before going to sleep. I randomly woke up at 1:30 and upon looking at Betsy’s “YEAHYEAHYEAH” text message, I knew our boy, Barack “Barry” Obama won!

My morning workout was awesome AND left me feeling awesome! I hammered out a powerful 4 mile run and was able to do several strength exercises that I’ve been neglecting since I started P90X 24 days ago… I cannot believe I’ve stuck with it so religiously! It’s become so addicting that when a friend asks to do something I always respond with, “let me check my schedule.” What they don’t know is that I’m referring to my P90X schedule. Since I require my morning workout to be a run, it only leaves the night to do my P90X workout, so it makes it tricky planning things. Luckily since most of my friends are in Boston, my weeknights are free to do whatever it is I please.

Morning Workout

  • 4 mile run
  • 3 sets of 15 stair push-ups
  • 1 minute plank hold and 30 second holds on both sides
  • 2 sets of 20 mountain climbers
  • 50 crunches and 50 side-to-side crunches
  • 2 sets of 13 weighted deadlifts
  • 2 sets of 13 standing side crunches with dumbbells
  •  Stretching

It was so nice to get those last 2 exercises in. My core and lower back were loving it!

Breakfast was another overnight oats bowl. Raspberry Mango, yum yum in my tum!

I’m so excited for the afternoon to roll around. I’ll finally be getting a lunch time workout in and my after-gym lunch is fantastic!

Happy hump day! Catch you guys soon! 🙂

Hit By a Bus.. And a Train.. And a Plane

Since Saturday evening I’ve had that “hit by a bus” feeling. My body is drained, my appetite is weird, and I have headaches galore. Simply put, I feel terrible. Coincidentally it’s Recovery Week in P90X. There we go, that explains it.

After several attempts at having a productive Sunday, it turned into the ultimate lazy day.

I woke up at 7, which was technically 8, but I wish I had gotten the memo to sleep in! After a little couponing, I somehow ran 4 miles, but it wasn’t impressive. I was surprised my body even allowed me to go that far. I could tell it wanted to snap in half. At 3.8 miles I thought I was going to collapse and face plant on the treadmill.

After my defeated run, I skipped any other form of exercise. No strength training, no core work, not even the P90X workout that was scheduled. My body told me no more and I listened.

Instead, I went over to the Barking Dog to watch my Dad compete in an agility competition with Kip. It was so entertaining and priceless to watch dogs and their owners compete in the agility course.

Most of the dogs are young and are in the agility classes that the Barking Dog offers, so by no means were these dogs ready for the BIG competitions.

I had plans to spend the rest of the afternoon at Barnes & Noble working on the blog and also tackling additional work that I really cannot disclose upon on here, but after 45 minutes I could barely concentrate and just wanted a nap. It didn’t help that it smelled like a litter box in the area I was sitting in! Or the man that would ask me every 10 minutes to keep an eye on his books so he could use the bathroom.

I packed it up and called it a day after successfully posting pictures on Facebook, oops, and finding several projects of interest on the internet. See, it wasn’t a complete fail!

I spent the rest of my afternoon and evening finishing Gone Girl and cuddling on the couch with Kip while we drooled over Gary Sinise in CSI:NY. Well, Kip drooled over Sela Ward and left Gary to me.

The highlight of my evening were the Baked Carrot Chips that I successfully made after a somewhat less successful attempt last week.

These babies are addicting and the entire batch was gone within the hour.

Baked Carrot Chips

• 1 Bag of Carrot Chips
• Olive Oil

1.) Preheat the oven to 425 degrees and line a cookie sheet with aluminum foil – A dish could also work
2.) Toss the carrot chips in the desired amount of olive oil, but enough to cover the carrots fully
3.) Sprinkle with desired seasonings
4.) Spread on the cookie sheet and bake for roughly 40 minutes. If you bake these at a higher heat you’ll have to adjust the timing as well.

I didn’t even keep track of the time on these, I simply just checked on them every now and then until they were nice and crispy.

Let’s not talk about today. I feel even worse than yesterday, although I felt pretty fantastic during this mornings workout.

Morning Workout

• 3.5 mile run
• 2 sets of 15 stair push-ups
• 1:13 plank hold
• 50 crunches and 50 side-to-side crunches
• 30 toe touches
