I’m Still Alive!

Hihihihihi!! I’m still alive, my blog’s still alive and I’m just waiting for WordPress and Web Hosting Hub to complete the transfer of my domain.

By the time you’re reading this, the transfer will thankfully be complete and you can continue reading about my boring life.

It’s a weird feeling not being able to blog or have bloggers stop by, but I figured a quick recap of the past few days would be good!

I’m keeping this post short and sweet, mainly just so you can rest at ease and know I’m still alive and kicking.

Workouts have really been the same. Running 4 miles in the morning, strength workouts, oh and spinning on Monday, where I made a new friend! She even convinced me to go to Zumba with her on Thursday. Neva eva been to Zumba so I’m terrified but excited to try it!

Food has been off the walls over here. I still drool when looking at these meals.

Strawberry banana protein shake with my new and best tasting protein powder, Syntha-6 Vanilla Ice Cream. Holy crap it tastes like strawberry ice cream. Nom nom!

Turkey, avocado, spinach and mustard sandwich on Ezekiel bread with raw veggies on the side. Anyone else fart like crazy after eating Ezekiel bread? No, only me? That’s awkward then.

Peanut Butter Banana Oatmeal

I have a new favorite breakfast. This is a miracle!

This entire week my nights have been pretty busy and I haven’t had the opportunity to make some of my favorite meals for dinner, so I was excited to have last night all to myself to get creative with dinner. I love breakfast foods and could easily eat breakfast for lunch and dinner, but when I work early, it’s very difficult and impossible to make elaborate breakfasts. I usually have to stick to yogurt bowls, protein shakes and overnight oats.

Last night I knew exactly what I wanted to make. I previously failed at making oatmeal with peanut butter and have been wanted to redeem myself ever since. I have seen so many bloggers rave about peanut butter oatmeal and I could never understand where their love came from, until last night.

Peanut Butter Banana Oatmeal

Peanut Butter Banana Oatmeal

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup oats
  • 1 cup water
  • Dash of Cinnamon
  • 1/2 tbsp Chia seeds
  • 1 scoop Peanut Butter
  • Banana slices
  • 1 Truvia packet or sweetener of your choice

Directions:

  1. Mix your oats and water in a microwave safe bowl, and microwave for 3 minutes or until the oatmeal is at your desired consistency
  2. Add in your chia seeds, cinnamon and sweetener, and mix together
  3. Garnish with banana slices and peanut butter, mix and enjoy!

This had to have been one of the best bowls of oatmeal I’ve ever had, and I’m not just saying that either. The peanut butter was extra creamy and melted and mixed in perfectly in every spoonful. It left me with one full and happy belly!

Can’t wait to make this breakfast this weekend!

Monday Means the Weekend is Over.. Wah!

This morning I woke up again not feeling like my true self. Chelsey’s mom works at a hospital so she told me that I probably had a virus and that it should go away soon. I sure hope it does! I’m getting tired of having no appetite and not feeling 100%. At least today I’m not nauseous!

I ended up being quicker in my morning routine so I was blessed to have an extra 5 minutes to run this morning. I surprised myself with pushing out a 4 mile run, which I’m stoked about since I won’t be hitting the gym during the middle of the day like I normally do. Instead, I’m taking my lunch at 4 to leave an hour early so I can take the Monday evening spin class at 4:30.

Morning Workout

  • 4 mile run
  • 50 crunches and 50 side-to-side crunches
  • 25 reverse crunches
  • 1 minute plank
  • 2 sets of 13 squats with overhead dumbbell press, 8 lbs.
  • 2 sets of 20 mountain climbers
  • 2 sets of 13 standing side crunches, 8 lb. dumbbells
  • Stretching

This workout left me drenched in sweat and feeling great.

As good as that felt, I STILL didn’t have an appetite. I tried to make a protein shake for work but it was too soupy and wasn’t going to work so I sabotaged that idea. Around 10, I forced myself to eat oatmeal with diced walnuts in it, knowing I needed the calories and protein, regardless of whether or not I was hungry.

Unfortunately I didn’t take pictures on my workout or of my breakfast, but I will leave you with this handsome man, who I will be seeing Wednesday night.

Stressing over Oatmeal

This morning I woke up completely confused. Even though I only worked a half-day on Friday, I still felt in vacation mode when my alarm went off this morning. I was so out of it I even forgot to use my inhaler so I could run cute and not all “huffy-puffy I’m going to die.” Miraculously I had an AMAZING run and didn’t even need the inhaler. I flew through 3.6 miles before working on my core, which had been badly ignored this weekend. Actually, all strength training was ignored this weekend, as I was only able to squeeze in runs.

Morning Workout

  • 3.6 mile run
  • 50 crunches and 50 side-to-side crunches
  • 25 reverse crunches
  • 1 minute plank and 2 sets of mountain climbers back to back
  • 2 sets of 13 squat with overhead press, 8 lb. dumbbells
  • 2 sets of 13 dumbbell rows, 8 lbs.
  • 100 jumping jacks

I had a nice pile of work ready for me when I checked my email this morning, and I was psyched about that! Since I misplaced my Mary Kay concealer, I was running a few minutes late while I destroyed the entire house while looking for it. Hiding spot?… My purse.. Oh yeah, too bad I don’t remember putting it in there yesterday. As a result of being late, I didn’t have time to make the protein shake I had been craving and picturing in my head while on my morning run.

Instead, I felt extremely guilty when I had to resort to eating oatmeal I had stashed in my emergency food drawer at work. You might be thinking, “stressing over oatmeal?” Well since I’ve been trying to eat a majority Paleo, and cut out carbs, I wasn’t excited to eat it, and actually felt sick after, but it was something that had to be done.

My pre-workout snack consisted of my favorite strawberry banana Chobani yogurt topped with sunflower seeds for a nice crunch.

Time to hit the gym!.. Pants are feeling tight so this will be an AMAZING workout. Yeah buddy. (I cannot believe I just said that… Michelle’s lingo has worn off on me).

Ringing Your Shirt of Sweat

This am I set out for an early run, as I wanted to get a little shopping in before the clouds cleared and the heat arrived. I went off on my run, and by the time I reached 1.25 miles, I had a little friend with me.

This little guy came wandering down the road and decided he wanted to get a little exercise in too.

What a lil’ Cutie!

He seemed so thirsty and panting heavily so I waited around the street for a few minutes to try and locate his owner, but had no luck until a lady running with her two dogs came up. We talked about this little guy for a few minutes and she told me the owner’s do this a lot and the dog just wanders around the street. How awful! I apologized for stopping her during her run and proceeded to carry this cutie back to his house.

Later on my run we passed each other again and she asked if I had luck returning him. There really are some caring people in the world.

Can we just discuss for a brief second how hot it was on my run. I had to ring my shirt several times because it was drenched in sweat. Halfway through my run there wasn’t a single dry spot on it. Ick!

Oh So Schweaty

 

After my run I threw in a little stretching and core work before shoveling Banana Bread Oatmeal down my throat and chugging ice-cold water. Damn it was hot out there!

Dizzy Friday

This morning I woke up with the spins, but I sucked it up and went for a run in my new shoes, which are AH-MAZING! They’re so light I felt like I was flying on the treadmill. I didn’t want to run outside and get the shoes dirty in fear that they wouldn’t work out, but good news, they’re perfect, and I just love the colors! 4 of my previous 6 running shoes were a combination of yellow, white and gray, so I’m pumped to get back to my running routes. 🙂
Today has been rainy with quite the nip in the air, so my go to breakfast of Banana Bread Walnut oatmeal was the perfect touch. I hovered over it like it was a campfire, warming up in the freezer of my office.

It does NOT feel like summer at all, but I wouldn’t mind having a lazy, relaxing weekend, without feeling guilty about it. Whenever it’s sunny and beautiful out, I always try to be outdoors the majority of the day, otherwise I feel like I’m wasting away my day. At the beginning of the summer, my boyfriend at the time and I used to spend weekend days at a little lake by his house. It was so lovely, we had our own little sandbar, and it was usually just the two of us or another random couple who had the same idea as us. We’d drive home and always stop and get some of the most amazing Strawberry soft-serve ice cream. If you’ve never tried that before, DO IT! Trust me, your life will be changed for the better. Since breaking up, my weekends are completely different, and while the change is nice, it’s also hard to grasp the change every now and then. With it, I have been able to spend a lot more time with my girlfriends, which is so nice. Plus, I am looking forward to going on dates again! Watch out boys, I’m on the prowl!
Somehow the day continued to get worse when out of the blue, I started getting dizzy again. The computer and room were spinning, and all I can relate this to is being on one of those carnival rides that goes and goes and goes in circles, which I REFUSE to ride.
I’m really hoping I can feel better soon so I can go back to Gold’s and get a short run and rowing session in. I also planned on going to my first 2 classes tonight, Power Crunch and Boxing Boot Camp.
Power Crunch: 15 minutes of pure abdominal training. Blast your abs into the future.
Boxing Boot Camp: Will combine high energy boxing cardio drills to increase cardiovascular fitness with intervals of dumbbell sets to increase the calorie burn and improve muscle tone.
I am starting to feel a little better so I’m hoping in 5 hours I’ll be roaring and ready to kick some ass! I might even go against my better judgment and head to the gym for a lunch time workout. I think I might just have to, I’m getting a little too antsy over here!
