Thanksgiving Breakfast Sandwiches & Fro-Yo Frenzy

Before my cardio-filled lunch time workout, I grabbed one of the goodies Jen snagged for me at the Head of the Charles on Saturday. I was craving something sweet and small, which led me to choose the Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Larabar.

Can we please take a moment to drool over those chocolate chips that are packed into that tiny bar. Holy heavens my mouth dropped after my first bite. I’ve never tried this bar before but I will be sure to buy it in the future! The snack size was perfect to fuel my workout.

Lunch Time Workout

  • 1.5 mile run
  • 15 minutes on the vertical elliptical
  • 5 minutes regular elliptical

This was a great workout and I felt energized throughout the entire thing. In fact, I was pretty bitter that I had to get back to work. Damn responsibilities, geesh!! I had the energy of this little guy:

Hey Ladies

After a quick shower and feeling much better than I did when I woke up, I flew to the kitchen (hey, I still had all that pent up energy 😉 ) and grabbed my breakfast sandwich.

There’s the Jam!

 Thanksgiving Breakfast Sandwich

  • Thomas Bagel Thin “Everything”
  • 1 Egg cooked over hard
  • Shredded Cheese
  • 1 Slice of Turkey Deli Meat
  • Jam, flava of your choice

Expect to see this winner being stuffed into my mouth quite often! Plus, Thanksgiving is only 29 days away so I HAVE to get pumped for it.

 Oh yeah it’s time!

Cheesin’ Hard for that Fro!

Fro-Yo time! I’m really hoping for a little lot of red velvet action in my mouth tonight, although unfortunately I’ll be choosing more fruits than sweets for toppings since I do have to show a little skin on Saturday for Halloween. Ugh. OREOS. BUTTERFINGERS. TOFFEE. M&Ms. COOKIE DOUGH. I’ll just have to pretend that’s what’s in my fro-yo bowl.

Excuse me while Linds and I go eat fro-yo ’til we fro-up. 😉

Gnawing My Arm Off. SOS

I’m writing this post to keep from eating my arm off due to hunger. This stomach is a bottomless pit. I think the demon from Paranormal Activity 4 got me because even little children look tasty right now. Okay, that’s stretching it just a little, but given the fact that I just devoured half of a Larabar, an egg & veggie scramble, AND a banana, you’d think I’d be full.

Lucky for me, Ryan, my Army buddy and college classmate (not to be confused with my brother Ryan), said he’d still like me if I were a paraplegic, just not AS much. Thanks Ry!

Brother Ryan & Army Ryan

Thing 1 & Thing 2. Confusing everyone.

Usually Ryan and I get to talk every couple of days when he’s not on assignment in Afghanistan, and I’ve been blessed to have him safe both yesterday and today. He’s usually gone for 3 days at a time so it’s never fun knowing he’s in the danger zone. At least when I’m talking to him I know he’s safe. It’s crazy how times have changed. Years ago, you’d have to mail a letter and wait weeks for a response, and now, I get to instant message him via Facebook. Counting down the days until December 10th when he returns!

Back to those eats.

Jen picked up rowing this past summer and since she’s become such an addict, her and her husband Marc went down to Boston on Saturday for the Head of the Charles, which is the world’s largest 2-day rowing event which brings the best rowers in the world to compete. While Jen and Marc enjoyed the HOTC, they stopped at many booths and grabbed free samples. Marc kept turning down the samples but Jen, who knows my love for samples forced him to collect the freebies for me.

Check out the swag I got… Talk about a happy Monday!

Swag Bag:

  • Aero Shot Energy
  • Meyer’s Clean Day Liquid Dish Soap
  • Cascadian Farm Organic Chocolate Chip Chewy Granola Bar
  • Cascadian Farm Organic Oats and Honey Granola
  • 2 mini Larabars: Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip & Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough (which is in my stomach)
  • A box of sweeteners

Jackpot baby!

Lunch also consisted of an egg & veggie scramble which included 2 eggs and 1 egg white, broccoli and spinach.

I wish I had pb toast to go with this, or a bottle of ketchup to dose that meal in.

It’s gorgeous out with a slight breeze, which is perfect outdoor running weather since I have to prepare for several river runs in Harrisburg this weekend! Catch you guys after my evening workout!

Wednesday Plankday

Talk about a candy corn overload. In fact I’m convinced I woke up a candy corn. I contemplated not running, or going for an easy run. I was thinking 2 miles, then thought 3, but settled on running 3.3. I blame my slow pace on the damn candy corn. Can’t wait to stuff my face with more tonight!

Morning Workout

  • 3.3 mile run
  • 1 minute plank
  • 50 crunches and 50 side-to-side crunches
  • 2 sets of 20 mountain climbers
  • Stretching

By the looks of it, it was quite a lazy morning workout. Throughout my day so far I have managed to squeeze in 3 minutes, or 3 “1 minute” planks, totaling my plank total to 4 minutes. Since I can get away with hiding in my office corner and busting out push-ups, squats, planks, jumping jacks, etc, my new goal is to complete at least 5 minutes of planks each day. It’s such a manageable goal, even if you break it into 30 second increments. Not only does this engage my body more throughout the day, but it also forces me to get out of my chair. If you have the room to do any exercise like this throughout your workday, I highly recommend it. With clean eating habits (including candy corn 😉 ), you’ll be looking and feeling better during your workday.

This is SO True

For breakfast I made a protein shake for the road but the pungent taste made me want to hurl it out the window. If it weren’t for all the cute kiddos waiting for the school bus, that dirt nasty smoothie would be on the side of the road. Not really, (go green!), but you catch my drift.

Instead, I opted for a banana to quiet my stomach, and made a bowl of oatmeal around quarter of 11. Late breakfast, but damn that naner sure did keep me satisfied all morning!

Then I needed food. Seriously needed food. You don’t understand. I pummeled through my chocolate peanut butter yogurt.

Then I proceeded to demolish a Peanut Butter & Jelly Larabar. Oh me oh my was that Larabar 20 kinds of amazing!

You Sure This Isn’t a PB & J Sandwich?!

This might be my favorite Larabar I’ve tried so far! It tasted exactly like a peanut butter and jelly sandwich… well, as close as a bar can. The ingredients in the Larabar are awesome too. I was worried what would be used for the “jelly,” and was pleased when unsweetened cherries were the jelly stand-in. Along with unsweetened cherries, the other ingredients include dates, peanuts and sea salt.

My thighs are in pain today. Not sure if it’s from squats or overuse, so it’ll be interesting to see how my workout goes in a few minutes.

Here’s to crossing my fingers that it’s a killer workout!

LÄRABAR Shopping Spree

I’ve recently been introduced to LÄRABARs, and am actually really digging them, my second time around. I remember trying one awhile back and was instantly disgusted. Where was the chocolate?! I wanted to feel like I was eating a candy bar with protein in it, but instead I had this weird thing in my hand.

However, after doing my Paleo research, I read that these were the recommended bar, and after talking with my Paleo eating cousin, she confirmed what I read. Originally my research told me to avoid the bars with chocolate or peanuts, but my cousin Jenn told me she eats all of them.

Yesterday I picked up a few for an emergency stash in case I need a little fuel before a night fitness class.

LÄRABAR Stash!

So far, I’ve tried the Cherry Pie, Coconut Cream Pie and Apple Pie, and have to say that out of those 3, my favorite is the Coconut Cream Pie. Holy heaven! Apple Pie was almost as delicious, but there was something a little too sweet in the Cherry Pie bar.

I can’t wait to try all the others I bought and the rest that LÄRABAR makes.

I’m thinking my next purchase will include Banana Bread and Carrot Cake. Drooling already.

As of right now, I’d like my pillow to be made out of Coconut Cream Pie. 🙂

Wedding Day on the Cape

Nothing better than having a Friday off! This morning I was able to sleep an hour past my usual alarm, but had a lot to do before heading to the Cape for a friend’s wedding. I hustled out the door and went for a 3.15 mile run, showered the sweat off and booked it to the gym to get a little more done. I finished up my run and made it to 4 miles before only lasting 2 minutes on the rowing machine. After that, I worked on my core and stretching in the women’s gym.

Morning Workout

  • 4 mile run (3.15 outside)
  • 2 minutes rowing, level 6
  • 2 sets of 25 medicine ball sit-ups
  • 20 side-to-side medicine ball sit ups
  • 20 side-to-side crunches with medicine ball on stability ball (phew!)
  • 20 crunches with medicine ball on stability ball
  • Stretching

Good AM workout!

I ran past an orange peel on my run through my neighborhood and had a hankering for a juicy orange, so on my way home from the gym I stopped at Hannafords and picked up a little fuel for the drive to the Cape.

Healthy Choices!

I’m so excited to try the Maple Almond Butter.

I made my Green Monster protein shake which just wasn’t doing it for me, so I cut my oranges and went through my typical orange eating routine. See below.

Favorite Reason to eat an Orange 🙂

The drive to the Cape was quick and painless and I was able to get a little reading done, and flipped back and forth between The Snowman and my Competitor magazine.

I also found time to paint my nails during the drive. This takes a skilled person, let me just tell you. Although I think we got high from the paint fumes.

Can’t go to a Wedding with Ugly Nails!

Alright, time to get dolled up and head to the wedding of two friends I keep close to my heart.
