Girls Day: Jewelry, Baby and Marriage Talk

What a busy little Saturday it’s turned out to be! It’s 7 pm and I’m just finally able to take a break from all of the running around I’ve done today.

I had a freak out moment early, early this morning when I woke up and looked at my phone to see it read 6:00. I immediately jumped out of bed thinking that I slept past my alarm and missed my run, until I realized that it was the weekend!

I happily went back to sleep, and after waking around 9, I went for a 4 mile run before showering up and heading to my Aunt’s house with my Mom for a girls day.

Girls Day

My cousin Lindsay is an Independent Consultant for both Scentsy and the new custom jewelry company, Origami Owl. Her mom, or my Aunt Judy, wanted to throw a party for all of her girl friends so naturally Lindsay hosted the party since she’s the consultant.

The Setup

Origami Owl is a jewelry company that allows you to customize your own necklace. You can choose between glass lockets, charms, and also tags.

Inside each locket you can add charms that represent you, including paw prints, birth stones, initials, running shoes, guitars, flip-flops, and many other choices.

The Steps

Here is a brief description from the lovely founder of Origami Owl:

Living Lockets are an extension of YOU – because each and every piece is custom designed to tell a story of your life + of what’s important to you.

Build your Living Locket in 5 simple steps:

Step 1: Select the CHARMS that tell your story or represent things you love
Step 2: Choose a LOCKET
Step 3: Choose a CHAIN
Step 4: Add a hand-stamped metal PLATE
Step 5: Add a DANGLE (or two!)

Every locket tells a story…what’s yours?

In the end, my cousin and I chose to go the route of the tag, since it fit more of our personalities. We aren’t really the glass locket type of girls. 😉

This is the exact piece I created, although I chose a light pink bead. I Am Enough. I LOVED this piece and expression, as over the years I’ve stopped trying to change myself for a man to make him love me more.

I’m smart, funny, beautiful and have a great future ahead of me, so if one guy doesn’t like me enough to be with me, there is a guy out there who will love exactly who I am, mainly because, I am enough. 🙂

Girl power!

The party was a lot of fun, and I didn’t even choose what I was going to purchase until the tail end. I was so caught up with talking with my newly pregnant cousin, Lindze! 🙂

She’ll easily be one of those skinny pregnant mommas. In fact, at 15 weeks pregnant, she is barely even showing and kicked major ass in boot camp this morning. This girl will be working out and kicking butt until her baby boy comes out.

Or at least that’s what we think, based on the needle test my Aunt did.

Lindsay, Jenn, Myself and Lindze

My cousins, Aunts and I had a blast catching up on all things Paleo, work outs, and marriage. When they all mentioned how my brother was having a long engagement (May 2014), my cousin Lindsay declared that one of the single cousins would most likely be married before Ryan and Chelsey say I do in 2014.

The Aunts thought that was bologna, but Lindsay proved them wrong when she pointed out that Nikki and I are all about intuition, are fearless and spontaneous. Helllllo I’ve moved to Los Angeles twice already.

I even said that I would love nothing more than meeting a man, realizing he’s the one, and getting married within the year. To be honest, I said married in 8 months after meeting a guy. There could be a marriage soon for this little lady if I can snag a gentleman soon!

We were so caught up in baby and marriage talk that by the time we looked at the clock, it was a good hour and a half past the time the party was scheduled to end. Get the Lewis ladies talking and you’ll never get anywhere on time! 😉

Once we said our goodbyes, my Mom and I went shopping for iPhone accessories, food and a few Christmas decorations before we joined my Dad for an amazing BBQ of a sweet steak and juicy chicken.

I also enjoyed a surprisingly good salad on the side.

I used a Northern Italian dressing that had bits of cheese in it. No wonder the salad was so good! I’m almost positive the dressing can make or break a salad.

If my future boyfriend/fiance/husband can grill half as good as my Dad can, than I will be a happy little lady. Alright, it’s time for me to go find that fella. Catch you guys tomorrow!

We Don’t Need to Relive What He Did”.. “But I Didn’t Even Live it the First Time”

Yesterday was one of the best days I’ve had in a long time. After my 4 mile morning run, I headed over to my girlfriend, Lindsay’s house. We grew up in the same town, and met in middle school when I moved to New Hampshire. The first time we met was in 7th grade when we played on the Hooksett Hawks basketball team. Well, we didn’t really play as much as we were the bench warmers. We ended up going to the same high school but had different friends, and I honestly don’t remember seeing her much around the school. The high school I went to was in the City, so there were students from my town, all of the City, and other towns as well.

After high school, we ended up going to the same college, and luckily the same orientation, which we were thrilled about because we were so nervous to spend the week with no one we knew. We stuck to each other’s side all weekend, and although we weren’t chosen as roommates, we became the closest of friends in college, and when you could pick roommates starting sophomore year, you bet we lived together with 4 other girls, who we call out gypsies (see below) for the next 3 years. Lucky for me, we both live about 20 minutes from each other. It used to be 20 when she lived at her parents house, but she found the cutest little condo the next town over that she shares with her adorable kitten, Jackson.

We couldn’t decide on what to do, when she told me she found a few recipes in her Clean Eating book. Banana Bread and Blueberry Banana Muffins. After I heard that, the decision was easy. We ventured over to the city’s “classy” Walmart to pick up the ingredients we needed. One of the recipes called for Sucanet, which we had never heard of, and after Google imaging it, we decided we’d improvise (truth be told, we really didn’t want to go to shows for it).

The Banana Bread, after baking for 60 minutes, was cooked but mushy, which I believe is from all of the bananas that the recipe called for. 3 cups of bashed bananas equaled roughly 8 bananas. The blueberry muffins also called for 1 cup of mashed bananas. Talk about banana overload. I was mashed out! I think if you omitted some of the bananas, this recipe would have turned out perfect. I took a blueberry muffin to go, and I felt the exact same way, although the few bites I tried were quite tasty!

After baking, Lindsay, who was given a set of tarot cards several years back, read my cards. About a month or so ago, I broke up with the man I planned on marrying and having kids with, so we thought it was time she gave me a little insight into my future. Ever since college, she has read our cards, in which we started calling her gypsy, and then everyone just became gypsy. Now, when we email or text each other, someone is always called a gypsy. My card reading was spot on, as they usually are. There was a lot of mention about my past and trying to let go and just let “bygones be bygones.” I did like the fact that she said I had good karma coming my way.

Getting my cards read. (This was during a timeout when Linds had to put the kitten in the other room so he wouldn’t mess the cards up)!

Around 4 my Mom texted me that there was going to be a BBQ with two of my other neighbors, so I left Lindsay’s around 6 to go to that. The Sheidows, who I’ve known for the past 7 years, are moving out of their home, to build a new one in the next town over simply for their school system. The Bolducs, who live across the street, are the best of friends with the Sheidows, as their kids are all around the same age. I babysit for both families, and when   there’d be snow days (when I was home and not living in California), I would get to watch ALL 5 kids for the day.

The BBQ was great. The kids were all off in groups playing games, the 3 men were maning the grill, and myself, along with the 3 ladies (Mom included) were inside drinking and eating the french fries. We’re so classy. After an amazing meal of steak tips, grilled chicken, ribs, corn on the cob, fries, 3 bean salad, and cookies for desert, we all stayed put on the couch and watched the Olympics and then America’s Funniest Home Videos (yes, the adults did choose this one).

Even though I wasn’t hungry, I could NOT pass this meal up

Rumor got out (thanks Dad!) that I had sent a picture of Keith Urban in a speedo to my Mom earlier that day (her biggest crush), and pretty soon, Meg, had a brilliant idea to send nearly naked and shirtless pictures of men to my Dad to embarrass him. The next 30 minutes consisted of her sending sexy pictures of David Beckham, Channing Tatum, and some spanish man, to my Dad’s cell phone. Then things got raunchy when she sent really nasty pictures, which prompted the two of us to become fascinated with the “People of Walmart” website.

This happened last night

Around 9, we all headed out. The Sheidows had an early morning of packing and moving to do, and I was just plain exhausted.

Today it’s supposed to stay rainy and dreary, so I’m about to head to the gym for a nice run and a little weights, and then go to the cheap seats with my mom to see The Lucky One. Can’t wait!
