A Night of my Favorite Things

My Monday evening has been full of my favorite things.

Breakfast for dinner. Oh hell ya. Eggs and orange marmalade toast. BETTER.

Don’t judge my paper plate or lack of setup of my dinner. I was hungry and needed this food in my belly STAT.

Tonight I realized that the texture of the orange rinds in the marmalade is a little too much for me. My mom told me that they’re always in there, but maybe because I’m only used to the marmalade mini containers at diners don’t have long ass rinds as they do in the family sized jar.

Don’t worry about paper plates in the future. One of my other favorite things is Target. Finding cute clearance items? BETTER!

Don’t be deceived by the price on the clearance sticker. These were actually $.74 to my surprise! I was thinking towards the future and bought 2 for when I eventually get my own place. I figured it’d be nice if my guest could have a matching plate.

I also picked up a travel packet of tissues for $.18, yeah, that’s what I’m talking about! I almost grabbed an avocado slicer for a little less than $3 but thanks to the Pinterest聽pin about clearance stickers, I knew it was going to go on clearance AGAIN!

Basically, if the clearance price ends in an 8, it will be marked down again, but if it ends in a 4, it’s the lowest it will ever be. Doesn’t really fit with the above plates as they were even lower than that, but let’s just call it a fluke. 馃槈

I cannot wait to use my new plate tomorrow night!

Last but not least, it’s almost time for Dancing with the Stars, one of my favorite shows. Louis Van Amstel is my favorite dancer and I just love how down to earth Sabrina Bryan is, so needless to say, I’m Team The Van Bryans! 馃檪

Stuffed Up Monday

I鈥檓 a self-professed cat lover and am obsessed with my Jakey poo, but whenever he wants to sleep with me, which is every night, I have trouble sleeping. You see, Jakey doesn鈥檛 choose a side of the bed, he chooses the middle. I hate waking up him so instead of pushing him over to the right side, I literally go spread eagle with my legs. Ladylike.

Reason #124 why I鈥檓 single. When I have a stuffy nose I stick a rolled up piece of tissue up the clogged nostril so that I can sleep without constantly sniffing and don鈥檛 have to worry about a runny nose.

So there I was, with my tissue stuffed up my nose and my legs wide open, struggling for sleep. I鈥檓 positive I woke up at least 4 times last night and finally gave up and kicked Jake out. I give him treats so he still loves me. Unconditional love.

I actually got a great workout in this morning and also on my lunch break. I was signed up for the 4:30 spin class but I wasn鈥檛 sure how I鈥檇 do leaning over handle bars with a runny nose.

Morning Workout

路 3.3 mile run
路 15 stair push-ups
路 2 sets of 20 mountain climbers
路 50 crunches & 50 side-to-side crunches
路 90 second plank hold
路 2 sets of 13 skiing dumbbell squats
路 2 sets of 13 standing side-to-side dumbbell crunches
路 3 sets of 13 chest flies, lying down
路 Stretching

While at work I also managed to throw in several air squats in the corner of my office, and completed 2 sets of 20. I absolutely dred squats but it鈥檚 so easy to get out of my chair, bust out several squats and sit back down and get right back to work.

Breakfast this morning was a kicked up version of my Chobani strawberry banana yogurt. Last night I microwaved a bag of instant brown rice and mixed about 1/3 cup of it into my yogurt. It was heavenly and extra filling!

I鈥檒l definitely be making this again, but I鈥檓 going to try a little less rice so I can taste more of the yogurt. I highly recommend this though!

Afternoon Workout

路 2 mile HIIT run
路 2 sets of 25 medicine ball sit-ups
路 13 medicine ball lumberjack squats, each side
路 13 medicine ball lumberjack chops, each side
路 10 minutes elliptical, alternating between forwards and backwards pedaling

The ladies gym felt like a sauna so my run wasn鈥檛 too fun, but the interval running felt great and I actually am feeling lighter and more energetic than I have the past few days!

Lunch was a hodgepodge of a meal. It consisted of a pumpkin muffin, a sliced up Fuji apple, carrots and a protein bar.

The protein bar I ate roughly half an hour after everything else since I was still hungry and didn鈥檛 plan accordingly. Well, I take that back. I did, but I just wasn鈥檛 craving my Chicken & Stars soup and knew it wouldn鈥檛 fill me up so I鈥檓 saving it for tomorrow. Yes, I鈥檓 5 again.

My nose is running again. Excuse my while I go stick a tissue up it.

Sweet Ending to my Sunday

After an afternoon of running errands, I hit the gym for an afternoon cardio session. I decided to do a decreasing interval workout.

Afternoon Workout

  • 20 minutes elliptical
  • 15 minutes arc trainer
  • 10 minutes stairs, 33 flights
  • 5 minutes cool down walk
  • Stretching

While I didn’t get any strength training in today like I had wanted, I was still able to leave the gym feeling like I accomplished a lot. The fact that I was dripping in sweat says something too.

After the gym I enjoyed a bowl of overnight oats which consisted of orange marmalade, blueberries, raspberries and silvered almonds for taste.

The orange marmalade was a tad overpowering and I could only stomach roughly half of the oats before it became too much for me to handle.

Lisha texted me the easiest recipe this morning for pumpkin muffins. I’m all about the two-ingredient recipes today! A box of spice mix and a can of pumpkin, bake it at 350 degrees for 20-25 minutes and you have low-calorie and low-fat pumpkin muffins.

I was craving a chocolate pumpkin muffin so I cut up a Bliss Chocolate piece and sprinkled it on top. I wish I had chocolate chips to put in all of the muffins. Next time!

Now I’m just relaxing and watching one of my favorite movies, Sweet Home Alabama. It’s actually funny, because I always root for Josh Lucas in this movie, and at the time this movie came out, I HATED Patrick Dempsey in it. Now, Patrick is my favorite actor, and while I find him more tolerable in the movie (since I’m obsessed with him) than when it first came out, I’m still Team Josh. Foreva!

Alright, time to head up to bed and drool over Josh and Patrick. PERFECT ending to my Sunday.
