Stomach Ache but Hungry. What’s a Girl to Do?!

My shake held me over until about 11 before I attacked my juicy Fuji apple. Halfway through I considered pulling out an almond butter packet I have in my purse but opted against it. Yes, I am VERY crazy.

About an hour later I snacked on Yoplait’s Greek yogurt that Chelsey introduced me to last weekend. She gave me a black cherry to try which I absolutely loved, but the vanilla flavor was too soupy for a greek yogurt and just didn’t do it for me. I stirred in a little of my chocolate peanut butter protein powder, but it was still just ehh.

For 2 Weight Watcher’s points, I’d much rather have my Fage 2% plain Greek yogurt. Now that shit is the bees knees.

About an hour later I hit the gym where I enjoyed a cardio focused workout. The other day I asked a trainer at the gym if I was allowed to spin when classes weren’t schedule and he gave me the green light which I’m excited about. It’s so hard to find a spinning class that I like and can fit into my schedule so it’s nice to know that I can get in some type of spinning in if I’m unable to make a class. I realize I won’t spin for as long or as hard but it’s better than nothing!

Afternoon Workout

  • 1.7 mile run
  • 10 minutes spinning
  • 5 minutes rowing
  • Stretching

I actually kicked major ass during my 10 minute spinning sesh. I worked myself hard and told myself that my lunch time workouts are so precious since I’m limited on time that if I was going to spin, then I was TRULY going to spin the real way. I did bursts in and out of position 2 and 3, had heavy resistance a majority of the time and got great intervals in. Overall I’m very pleased with my workout.

After the gym I was pretty hungry so I snacked on a Kashi Honey Almond Flax bar that I snagged last weekend from Ryan and Chelsey’s pantry, and also noshed on a bag full of sugar snap peas and home-grown cherry tomatoes.

I LOVE Kashi’s bars, some of my favorites being the Trail Mix and the Peanut Butter bars. They’re so good and a lot healthier than other versions of trail mix bars you’ll find on the shelves these days.

This was supposed to be a light snack to get a little protein in me before I had my 2nd protein shake of the day but honestly, my stomach has been hurting me for a good chunk of the day. My stomach says no, but my head says yes. And when I say head, I mean I get light headed when I’m hungry. What’s a girl to do. I think it’s the shake that’s turning my stomach. So it’s either finish the remaining half of my shake and make my stomach feel worse, or deal with light-headedness. I think I can manage another 20 minutes before heading home for the weekend.

In fun news, I’m going back to the driving range with my bestie, Allie, yes we have the same name, and then she’s coming over for dinner. I’m so excited to spend time with her again. She works 2 jobs, so in between our schedules, meetings and everything else under the sun, it can be quite hard to find a night that works for both of us.

Beets & Gorilla Glue.. I’d Cap That

Last night after work I had nothing planned, and was excited to have the opportunity to kick back and relax for the night. Have a little me time and not worry about meetings, rushing around to meet people or to run errands. I also wanted a break from my computer, hence the no blog post last night.

I have some catching up to do! For a relaxing evening, I feel like I sure didn’t relax too much. Every Thursday, a local farm owner brings a box of veggies to two ladies in my office, one being my marketing coworker, Jen. Since both Jen and Judy were on vacation, they allowed Nichole and I to divvy up the veggies. That might have been the highlight of my day. I walked away with purple tomatoes (?!), which I demolished before leaving work, 3 beets, green beans, and some type of lettuce.

I’ve been wanting to try beets for quite a bit now so I jumped on the opportunity to snag those babies. After scrubbing those suckers down, I wrapped them in tinfoil with baby carrots and a little olive oil, and baked them for what seemed like 50 or so minutes at 375. I wasn’t hungry when they came out of the oven, so the final verdict will come tonight!

While my beets and carrots were roasting, I walked a mile on my treadmill while trying to read my Runner’s World magazine. Eventually I gave up and watched How I Met Your Mother. That show kills me! I then proceeded to have a little DIY repair project to salvage my iPod band for just a little bit longer. Yes, I did get a considerable amount of Gorilla Glue on my fingers. It’s still stuck on my fingers and beyond annoying. I’m pretty sure I’ve seen Goo Gone around the office a few weeks ago so I might conduct a search party shortly.

While I was talking to my friend in bed last night, he introduced me to an app on the iPhone called, “I’d Cap That.” You can take a picture or choose one from your phone’s library or off of Facebook, and it will put a random caption on it. You can choose to refresh the caption once, but I found a way around it. Some of the captions aren’t for young kids eyes, but there are also some really funny ones.

That was my favorite I got last night! It’s completely true too. 🙂 I cannot stop using this app, talk about a quick addiction! Side note: When I went to add the tag for this, I accidentally wrote, “I’d Tap That.” Geez, looks like we all know where my mind is!

This morning I woke up 3 minutes before my alarm went off. In my head I was hoping that when I glanced at my phone that I’d still have a few more hours of sleep ahead of me. NOPE! Don’t you just hate those moments? I seem to get them quite often. I’ve also been waking up at midnight on the dot the past few nights this week. What gives?! I don’t remember the last time I fully slept through the nite.

This mornings workout was much better than yesterdays. I squeezed in a 3.4 mile run, got my planks in, additional core work, and then alternated between sets of squats and jump rope.

Morning Workout

  • 3.4 mile run
  • 2 sets of 1 minute plank holds
  • 2 sets of 20 mountain climbers
  • 50 crunches and 50 side-to-side crunches
  • 13 squats with overhead 8 lb. dumbbell press, followed by 50 jump ropes, repeated twice
  • Stretching

The quick workout felt good, and am very eager to get quality workouts in this weekend. This morning also marks the first day of trying my new Herbalife protein! I ordered the Cookies & Cream flavor, and once I received it I was apprehensive about the taste, thinking that it’d be too sweet, but ya know what? It is the bomb diggity! The shake is incredible, and while it is sweet, it’s not excessively sweet.

Cookies & Cream Protein Shake

  • 2 scoops of Herbalife Cookies & Cream Protein
  • 3/4 cup of skim milk… I was all out of my Almond Milk
  • additional water
  • Ice cubes
  • a heaping scoop of Fage 2% Plain Greek Yogurt

As part of the program I am beginning as of right now, I will be consuming two protein shakes a day, a protein-filled snack and a regular dinner. Or you could choose your meal to be breakfast or lunch, it really depends on what you’re craving that day. These shakes are supposed to help increase your protein (well duh Allie!), curb your hunger and help you lose the weight you’re looking to shed. I’m extremely excited about this program and being a Herbalife distributor.

I made a big purchase last night of various Herbalife products, including: French Vanilla protein powder, Dutch Chocolate protein powder, vanilla almond, chocolate peanut butter, and chocolate coconut protein bars, vitamins, Vitamin C face moisturizer (super excited!) and various other products. Once I receive my humungo box of goodies next week, I’ll showcase all of the items.
