Once Again Target Took My Money

I love Target. I used to work there for 6+ years throughout high school, college, and post grad while looking through work. It’s safe to say that no one, and I don’t care if you’re a man or female, young or old, there’s no way of leaving Target without dropping serious cash.

I started off in the clothes section, where I found a cute blazer, trendy kicks, and an adorable bikini top that was on clearance for $4.98. I carried all the items around with me, and found even more items. After picking up my expensive deodorant, new workout pants and candy corn, I opted to put the blazer and kicks back. I’ll get them later this week when I print out coupons.

$4.98, what a steal!

I cannot wait to find a cute pair of bottoms that will match this top. Already looking forward to Summer 2013!

Yay for Fall!

Candy corn is one of my favorite candies, especially when Fall comes. This bag was ripped open before I made it to the parking lot. Halfway home I was suffering from a sugar overload. Pretty sure I OD’d on those suckers tonight. Ooopsies! 🙂

Sure Felt Like a Monday

The first day back to work after a long weekend is always tough. Add in a rainy and dreary day, and it makes it even worse. Today, all I have wanted to do since I looked out my window upon waking up was to stay in my warm bed and watch movies all day. Being an adult sucks. One day I aim to be able to work from the comforts of my own home and not have to battle with my gnarly easy 15 minute commute, or walk through the rain and snow. Not to mention I wouldn’t have to climb 72 stairs and be sweating by the time to get to my office.

During yesterday afternoon/evening’s run, for the first time ever, I had to use my emergency phone call. At the 3.85 mark my stomach instantly flipped in roughly 20 circles and I felt the sudden need to throw up. Part of me wanted to finish my 4 mile run, but I knew I had an additional hill I had to encounter. I made the call, got picked up, and stubbornly asked to be dropped off at the top of my street, a mere .15 miles from my house. You bet I was getting to my 4 miles, one way or another.

After my run, I felt nauseous all night. I had what felt like the stomach bug, but every now in then when I push myself in the heat, I get stomach aches for roughly an hour after my workout is finished. I thought this was the case but it wasn’t, and I ended up being sick for the following 6 hours.

Luckily today I woke up feeling like my normal self and tackled a 3.5 mile run, followed up with several core workouts.

Morning Workout

  • 3.5 mile run
  • 15 stair push-ups
  • 50 crunches and 50 side-to-side crunches
  • 25 reverse crunches
  • 1 minute plank
  • 2 sets of 13 standing side crunches with 8 lb. dumbbells
  • Stretching

Work dragged and dragged, not to mention Internet issues, hence the 5:35am-5:25pm wrap up post. My cravings have been really off today. I made a protein shake for breakfast but it tasted too gritty and too sweet so I nixed it halfway through and ate the juiciest Fuji apple ever.  Around noon, I opted for banana bread oatmeal before attacking an engineers’ resume.

It felt so good to be back in my weekday workout routines. Being away from my gym all weekend I was beyond ready to have the privilege to workout on my lunch.

My workout band has been through the trenches, and it was barely holding my cord so I rigged it, which came apart after my workout. Looks like I have to add another item to my list of things to buy.

Lunchtime Workout

  • 1.5 mile run
  • 5 minutes rowing, level 4
  • 2 sets of 25 medicine ball sit-ups
  • 20 side-to-side medicine ball sit-ups
  • 13 lumberjack squats and lumberjack chops with medicine ball, each side (totaling 52 reps)
  • 8 minutes on the machine that still remains a mystery to me
  • Stretching

I OWNED that workout and had the walk of shame back to my office with a really nasty sweaty tank. I’d say it was embarrassing but I decided to take pride in being active.

I had the option of taking spinning or boot camp tonight, but you know what, it’s still raining out, and I decided that plopping my ass on my couch and seeing what all the hype of Kelly Ripa’s new co-host is all about.

I got my workouts in today so I’m allowed to be a fat ass tonight.

Monday on the Road

This morning I was on the road by 6:40 am, which is too early to be awake on your day off. After a tiring 8 hours in the car, I finally made it home, with a splitting headache. 😦

I vegged on the couch, and enjoyed one of my top favorite movies, Failure to Launch, before getting the energy and motivation to go for a run.

Happy to be back Running in my ‘Hood

I busted out a 4 mile run, but ended with a twisted stomach, which I’m still sporting. It hasn’t been a fun night at all. I didn’t feel good enough to do weights or core work, but I did get my stretching in, which is more important.

After washing up and running a few errands, I came back and cuddled with my boy, Jakey.

I Live a Tough Life

I do miss cuddling with my nephew though. Good thing I get to see him October 26th… Get ready Henry, your Aunt is coming for you!

Cuddling with the Auntie

Aside from my twisted stomach, I had such an amazing weekend with Ryan and Chelsey. I hope you guys had a great Labor Day as well! Ugh, back to the work grind tomorrow. At least it’ll be Tuesday. 🙂

Night 2: Tacos and a Locked Bathroom

After getting back from our day of exploration at the Indian Echo Caverns, we relaxed on the couch for about half an hour watching Man VS. Food. We had planned to grill chicken and veggies, but Ryan got craving after craving while watching that show, which we are all obsessed with. First it was burgers, then they both agreed they were craving tacos.

We got to action and drove to the nearest grocery store to buy supplies. Upon arriving home, we realized the bathroom (the ONLY bathroom) was locked. With no way in, Ryan attempted to be a man and get the door knob off. After an hour, the stubborn boy finally called the landlord and handyman and within 30 minutes, Ralph, the handyman arrived. After several hours without a toilet, Ralph granted us access to the bathroom, which now sports a knobless door. You have some pretty good peeping access now!

I haven’t enjoyed a taco in years, and it sure was a delicious treat! I had one taco and then a taco salad.

Taco Salad: Turkey, tomatoes, Peppers, Cheese, Salsa and Guac!

With full bellies, we headed down the block to the riverfront to enjoy the Labor Day fireworks. Okay, what really happened was we heard a loud bang, thought it was thunder, then gunshots, then remembered there were fireworks.

Happy Labor Day!

After the fireworks, we settled onto the couches and attempted to play Friends Scene It, but had troubles with the DVD player, so we settled on Kill Me Again, starring the then babe, Val Kilmer. I made it halfway through before falling asleep, which disappoints me because it was actually really good! It was free On Demand so I believe I have something to add to my list of things to watch for this week!

Day 2: Indian Echo Caverns

Sunday

Sunday we slept in until 9, which felt AHHHH-mazing! Actually Chels and I were up at 9, and we let Henry attack wake Ryan around 10, and promptly asked him to make us protein shakes for breakfast… he’s the master!

After our shakes, Ryan and I headed to the gym while Chels got a little work done around the house. I had an hour at the gym so I focused a majority of my workout on cardio, namely running. I ran 4 miles and threw in a little core work and hit the weights for a few standing side crunches.

After the gym, we showered and headed to the Indian Echo Caverns, this beautiful site 20 minutes from where they live, and explored underground caves that were home to the local Indians in the 1800s.

Love my Brother 🙂

After exploring the caves for an hour, we hit the gift shop and had a little, okay, a LOT of fun! 🙂

Time to Mine!

How Can You Not Love Us?!

I can’t get over how much Chels and I look like bunnies with our headsets. 😦
