Addicted to Peanut Butter

This entire week I’ve “looked” heavier. There’s a difference between looking and feeling. I can feel when I lose control when my butt feels just a little too bodacious in my work pants, or my jeans feel a little snug around the waist. This week, it’s one of those “my stomach looks a little too bloated, but my ass feels great!” situations.

The culprit? Yup, you guessed it, late night peanut butter raids.

Get in my Mouth!

It’s quite odd. I don’t crave peanut butter during the morning, day or evening, but when I’m in bed trying to fall asleep or if I wake up in the middle of the night, it hits me. I have an angel on one shoulder and a peanut butter devil on the other. I’m convinced I’m not able to sleep through the night unless I consume peanut butter at some point during the day.

So I go downstairs and enjoy peanut butter spoons or grapes dipped in the holy goodness (my FAVORITE way to eat PB), or dipping crackers in the smooth creamy pb. Then I wonder and complain why the scale hasn’t gone down or my pants are tighter.

I’ve decided instead of trying to control my cravings, that I will incorporate it in a healthy way in my day-to-day meals. Maybe then the peanut butter devil will let me sleep!

Veggiefied!

Just got back from a nice midday workout, and boy did it feel good!  I’ve felt bloated in my stomach this week, so I was happy to be able to get a quick but energizing workout in on my lunch.

Midday Workout

  • 2 mile run
  • 5 min. rowing, level 7
  • 2 sets of 20 sit-up crunches with 12 lb. dumbbell
  • 2 sets of 20 side crunches, and 15 regular crunches on a stability ball with 12 lb. dumbbell
  • STRETCHING!

When I got back to work I anxiously dug into my lunch I prepared last night. Spaghetti squash! I topped it with a few spoonfuls but not enough, of salsa, parmesan cheese, and mixed in veggies and several types of beans.

The Pee Pee Dance

I always learn this lesson the hard way. Actually, I have yet to learn, as I always find myself doing it. Whenever I have a question at work it also always seems that I have to use the bathroom. I always ask Nichole, thinking I’ll get the answer and be on my way to the bathroom. Nope, never happens. She’s quite the talker in general, and this time it didn’t help that she had the past two days off, so she had a lot more to talk about, besides discussing my question.

After uncomfortably shifting from foot to foot, I left her office a good thirty minutes later and made a mad dash to the bathroom. It was actually more of a painful pee walk.

5 minutes after getting to my desk Nichole yelled over to me, “Hey, did I even answer your question?”

The answer was no. Somehow we both didn’t even realize it!

Off to go grab one of my favorite Chobani yogurts from the stash my coworker gave to me for giving her a cake I won in the company wide raffle. Good things come to those who pay it forward. 🙂

Dead Legs

Last night after work I headed over to the gym to do a light run before spinning in hopes of waking up my tired and sore legs. I started with a light run and picked up my pace, and finished after 2 miles, although it was quite the struggle.

My treadmill workout started with a .10 warm-up walk, followed by a 1.5 mile run, a short .15 mile walk, and then finished up with .5 mile run and a .25 mile cool down. My legs were still hurting, and I didn’t want to overdo it, so I passed on spinning and went to work on the lovely core.

Evening Workout

  • Warm up and 2 mile run, .5 mile walk
  • LOTS o’ stretching! The butterfly felt amazing
  • 50 dumbbell sit-ups, 12 lb. dumbbell (couldn’t find my trusty medicine ball!)
  • 20 dumbbell oblique sit-ups

I came home to a beautiful spaghetti squash, so I excitedly got to prepping it so I could make a delicious dinner. I wasn’t extremely hungry but I did want to try my masterpiece, so I topped about a cup of spaghetti squash with salsa and parm cheese and dug in. Verdict: Heaven in my mouth.

This mornings run was another tough one, but my legs are finally starting to feel like normal again. I’m even considering taking the boxing boot camp class tonight since I skipped out on spinning last night. It’s still up in the air, so don’t hold me to anything! Usually on Fridays we leave work early so it also depends on that.

Morning Workout

  • 3.2 mile run, with post-run stretching
  • 50 crunches
  • 1 minute plank
  • 50 side to side crunches
  • 25 reverse crunches
  • 1 set of 15 stair push-ups… I JUST realized as I’m typing this I forgot to do my 2nd set :/
  • 2 sets of 13 weighted standing side crunches, 8 lb dumbbells
  • 2 sets of 13 dead lifts into an upward row, 8 lb dumbbells

Obsessed with the Health Food Aisle

Since I have spinning tonight from 6-7, I decided to skip my lunch time run and go for a warm up 1-2 mile run before spinning, since I will have to kill time from 5:10 until class begins. It is absolutely gorgeous out so I was in the mood to go for a little drive with the windows down and sunroof open. I took Jax, my handsome sports car, for a spin around the North End, a more wealthy neighborhood near my work. After my joyride, I was famished, and my 4 California Rolls I bought last night didn’t fill me up so I headed over to the grocery store to pick up a little fuel so I’d survive the rest of the day until I’d get home around 7:20.

I picked up this strawberry protein powder, because all I could think about when I saw it was strawberry (protein) milk. Hello childhood memories! Plus, it was only $13.99, and would still allow me to pick up my absolute favorite protein powder later in the week.

Sounds SO Good!

I scanned the health food aisle to try and find a light protein bar to hold me over between work and to get me through spinning class, and I found a new bar that excited me.
