This morning I woke up roughly 15 minutes before my alarm and boy were my legs aching! I contemplated resetting my alarm, thinking that my legs were too tight to carry me on a run, but the stubborn soul that I am woke up on time and went for a gnarly run.
My legs were a lot tighter this morning than they were the day immediately after boot camp. I’ve noticed a pattern that the morning after I use my foam roller on my quads and hamis, my legs are a lot tighter. Has anyone else had the same problem? Last night I was laying on the floor blogging while I had my thighs resting on my foam roller. You sneaky little thing!
Even though my legs were heavier today, this morning’s run was a lot easier than yesterdays, although I did manage to cover the same distance, just in a shorter time. I followed up my run with a lot of stretching and a few quick core exercises. The past week I’ve focused a lot more on my core, as I typically don’t give it enough attention.
- 3.1 mile run, with post-run stretching
- 2 sets of 15, stair push-ups (4th stair down)
- 2 sets of 50, crunches and side crunches
- 25 reverse crunches
- 2 sets of 13, standing side crunches with 8 lb dumbbells
Usually I beat Jen and Nichole to work, but this morning Jen was early and we were able to walk in together. She gave me the responsibility of choosing if we’d sludge up the stairs or take the elevator. You bet I chose the elevator. You should have heard us croaking when we had to walk up the 3 measly stairs to the building’s entrance.
We might be feeling like old grannies, but we’re young at heart!
