Knots ‘r Us

Today has been a day from hell. My body is knot central. A combination of exuberant amounts of stress and golfing yesterday has left me with shoulders landmarked with knots. It hasn’t been a fun day, and it was an even less fun run. Not even a quarter-mile in and I wanted to stop. Pain in my legs. Heavy legs. I soldered through the pain and continued for 3.3 miles. I focused mainly on stretching and core work after my run, as I didn’t even want to look at a dumbbell.

Morning Workout

  • 3.3 mile run while saying every swear I know
  • Stretching
  • 50 crunches and 50 side-to-side crunches
  • 25 reverse crunches
  • 1 minute plank

Weights are on my “shit list” until my shoulders are feeling more relaxed.

I dragged my fat arse to work, where I slumped into Jen’s office and talked about massages. We both felt dead so we had a fun pity party while our boss was out running an errand.

I spent the morning working and trying to find an emergency massage therapist. It was that bad. The prices made me cry, and that’s when I started trying to knead the knots out myself. Ouch! I’m thinking my ol’ man has a job for his Friday night. Saves me 70 buckaroos. I like a good deal. I’m thinking yard work will be a sufficient form of payment. That always makes him happy.

My mid-day snack consisted of the bomb diggity, chocolate peanut butter yogurt.

Oh Yeah

Awwww yeah, in my mouth!

I started feeling a little better mid-day, and decided to head to the gym to try to wake myself up a bit. I took it VERY easy, and focused a majority of my workout on just getting light cardio in.

Afternoon Workout

  • .7 mile run
  • 16 minutes on the trainer
  • Stretching

As you can see, I seriously made it a light workout. I’m not sure what the cardio machine is I used. I found an image once online and it said it was a Nordic trainer, but when I did another search for the Nordic trainer, a completely different machine came up. The machine I basically a mix between an elliptical and an arch trainer, except the foot pedals slide up the machine.

HELP, what is this bitch called?!

After leaving the gym early, I walked the long way back to work since I had extra time to kill and still wanted to move my body. I believe I ran an additional .15 miles as well, in .05 increments. Yeah, I’m badass like that.

At this point, I was ravenous, and went for my gallon bag of home-grown cherry tomatoes, sugar snap peas, and a turkey, ham and spinach sandwich.

Fat & Juicy, Just How I Like It

Turkey, Ham, Spinach and Mustard Sandwich

Boss lady left us leave an hour and a half early today! Time to return a few items to The Gap, exchange my library book and then head home for a relaxing evening. I did choose to spend the night getting rest and recharging and am thinking of attacking Harrisburg tomorrow morning.

I feel guilty not going. Although I’m glad I don’t have too many mean bones in my body, I wish I could get rid of the guilt bone.

C’est la vie.

Hitting Balls Solves Everything

The afternoon was about 10 times better than the first half of my day. There’s no surprise that a quick workout and spending time at the driving range with my best friend instantly flipped my mood.

A grasshopper protein shake (pistachio and mint chocolate), courtesy of Herbalife, put a pretty ginormous smile on my face.

Grasshopper Shake = Big Smiles

I followed it up with my veggies. Mom would be proud.

After a quick afternoon at work, I hit the gym quickly for a brief workout before meeting up with my best friend, Allie, at the driving range.

Evening Workout

  • 1 mile run
  • 6 minutes rowing, level 4.5 – I was going to only do 5 minutes, but this lady wouldn’t STOP staring me down every 30 seconds so I kept going just to annoy her.. mature I know
  • 2 sets of 25 medicine ball sit-ups
  • 20 side-to-side medicine ball sit-ups
  • Stretching

I quickly made it to the driving range where we saw our former high school teammate, Ashley, and scored 2 for 1 buckets! Pays having connections. 😉

Going Deep

Gotta love the pink club Ashley lent me!

Tiger Who?!

Golfing was extremely fun and I would love to get to the ranges a lot more before they close for the season. After hitting balls, I whipped up chocolate peanut butter yogurt in my favorite glass.

Fage 2% plain greek yogurt + chocolate peanut butter protein= Yum!

Favorite Yogurt in my Favorite Glass

Tim, an ex of mine from when I lived in Los Angeles, gave me a set of 4 of these glasses when he was packing up his house. The story behind the glass is unique. Tony’s On the Pier is a bar in Manhattan Beach and when you order a fire shot, it’s served in this glass, which you get to keep. Tim did a lot of shots in his days!

Alright, off to pack. This girl decided to follow through with her PA plans!

SOS Stressed to the Max

Help! I’m beyond stressed and don’t know what to do with myself. I think the constant busyness is taking its toll on me and wearing me thin. I’m supposed to go to Harrisburg tomorrow night after work but the thought of driving 8 hours when I leave work at 5pm makes me want to cry. Not to mention driving all day Monday.

I want to go, but I also just want to relax and recharge this weekend. I’m torn… and have until tonight to figure my shit out. That doesn’t add any stress at all right?

Don’t even get me started on last night’s concert. Awful. Just AWFUL! Country concerts overwhelm me, especially when they’re at Toby Keith’s Bar. SOS. Seriously, SOS. I did befriend a couple from England who are crazy country fans and they kept offering to buy my drinks but being tired and having to drive made me say no. So sweet though!

I eventually wandered throughout the bar to kill time before Kip came on. He was supposed to be on at 8pm but didn’t go on until only God knows when. I think I started getting anxiety, and once I knew I could leave the bar/restaurant and still come back in, I opted for that option. I couldn’t see the stage anyways so what’d I have to lose?

I wandered around the outdoor plaza and window shopped and found an adorable boutique I loved. Each area of the store was color coordinated, so all scarves, jewelry, clothing, purses, and cute shoes were all grouped together based on the color. It was the neatest thing I’ve seen. Yes, I just said “neatest.”

Pretty Blues

After browsing the selection and putting dresses back that I had grabbed (money stress, good job Allie), I wandered back to the bar and Kip still wasn’t on. I waited a bit, and after just being so overwhelmed, tired, and hungry (and ANNOYED that I was watching a concert on the TV at the bar), I headed out early, especially since I knew there was night work on the highways. Hey, at least I saw the hottie outside the bar before the show. It wasn’t a complete dud.

Today I was smart and used several vacation hours to sleep in until 8 and go to work at 11am. Those extra 2 1/2 hours were AMAZING, although of course I’m still tired… hint hint, stay home this weekend Allie.

I feel like humpty dumpty today. Lethargic and chunky. Stress causes me to gain weight, lord I wish I was one of the lucky ones who lost weight when stressed. Ohhhh, thank you Mom and Dad for those kick-ass genes.

Anyone have any stress killers?

Smoothie Overload!

By the time I left work yesterday I was pretty sure I was going to go to bed upon walking through the front door at 5:25. This girl was tired and needed sleep. Instead of being a complete waste of life, I made a wicked (shhh I’m from New England) good sandwich on a sandwich thin. I had 2 slices of turkey, a slice of american cheese and a slice of ham, toasted in the toaster oven. This baby served alllll my needs.

Turkey, Ham & Cheese Melt

I had actually planned on having a tuna melt, and not to drop names, but a certain male in the house only left about 2 bites of tuna in the container. Dude, finish the damn tuna if that’s all you’re gonna leave! Actually, I’m not one to talk. I left 3 of those chocolate covered acai berries left in the bag. I thought if I ACTUALLY finished the bag I’d be considered a fat ass.

After dinner, I changed and headed over to Primetime Wellness Club to pick up 2 smoothies. One for dessert and one for today’s breakfast. I ended up ordering the Butterfinger, which wasn’t as good as the others I’ve tried, and the french toast smoothie for this morning. I think the Butterfinger smoothie just wasn’t think enough, almost as if there was just a little too much liquid in there.

4 Types of Heaven

I also received an aloe water which I enjoyed last night and is completely addicting, and a raspberry tea with aloe in it for today. You receive a tea for free with your smoothie so it’s a good deal when you pay $6.

I also forgot to mention that I came home to my new subscription of Fitness magazine! I’ve read it before and since I have enough fitness magazines, I knew I didn’t need another, however one day I received a postcard offering a year subscription for $5. I’m sorry but even if you only read 2 magazines a year, you’re still getting a deal. Subscription purchased.

One Year for $5. Deal of the Century!

Subscription received… WITH an exercise band. Score! I haven’t seen one of these since being in my memere’s old house back 16+ years ago.

This morning was a bitch. I went to bed early last night and took a sleeping aid and was out of it when I woke up, since the aid was still wearing off. My body felt beat. I’m blaming it on the additional plank exercises I added to my workout, and I wasn’t sure if my legs wanted to carry my on my run. Oh but they never fail and they did.

Morning Workout

  • 3.3 mile run
  • 1 minute plank
  • 20 mountain climbers
  • 50 crunches and 50 side-to-side crunches
  • 1 minute plank
  • 20 mountain climbers
  • Stretching
  • 100 jump ropes.. yes that’s the number of times I jumped with my imaginary rope 😉

My french toast protein shake made my morning 20 times better than yours. I’ll be ordering that sucker again.

8 hours and 15 minutes until I see this ridiculously gorgeous piece of meat man.

Oh Hello There

French Toast smoothie and Kip. Yes, be VERY jealous.

Hodgepodge Cardio Workout

This afternoon I finally got my appetite back and wasn’t feeling so sick anymore, which showed in both my workout and the amount of food I inhaled.

Here’s a gist of what I ate between 12:30 and 3:00.

Mid-day Fuel

Anyone else eat an apple oddly like me and carve out the center before attacking the edges?

I left my lunch at home today so I’m lucky I packed the protein shake. I had that feeling that I didn’t grab something from the fridge; my bag was too light. Oh well, looks like the chicken and sweet potatoes will be dinner.

This afternoon’s workout was awesome and full of heart-raising exercises. The rowing machine was repaired after a solid 2 weeks of being out of commission so I was eager to strap myself in and go to town. My asthma kicked in after 10 seconds (fail. wuss. pathetic), but I stuck it out for 5 minutes. My arms were about to fall off.

Afternoon Workout

  • 1.5 mile run
  • 5 minutes rowing machine, blister included
  • 2 sets of 25 medicine ball sit-ups
  • 20 side-to-side medicine ball sit-ups
  • Stretching
  • 10 minutes nordic trainer

Feeling alive and ready to tackle the world!

This evening I’m planning on skipping spinning, as I’m exhausted and would like my body to recover so I can survive tomorrow night’s Kip Moore concert.  I’m planning on working on my training packet for Herbalife, grabbing a protein smoothie and heading over to Mike’s to help him pack up.  Two thumbs down for my best friend moving to Boston. Luckily, he’ll be less than an hour away and in a GREAT place to visit!

My mind is wandering back to the smoothie.

Do I order:

  • Almond Joy
  • Apple Pie
  • Butterfinger
  • Chocolate Chunky Monkey

I’m thinking of grabbing two; one for tonight and one for tomorrow’s breakfast. Leading towards at least getting Butterfinger!

Mmmmm Butterfingers 🙂

Never heard of VI Shape Shake mix but I’ll have to try this rendition on my own. Sadly, the Butterfinger shake I’ll order tonight won’t have the butterfinger pieces in it like the above shake. Being healthy sucks is awesome!

Sleepless in New Hampshire

Last week J.Crew Outlets emailed me “personally” 😉 to tell me that there was a 30% off sale on tops, including the clearance price. I freaked out and dropped everything I was doing to see if the shirt I bought last weekend was on sale. Guess what, it was! I got the shirt in a red, white and blue scheme, along with a very pretty bracelet for a grand total of $50 dollars. Steal! My package arrived last night so of course I HAD to wear the new top today. I feel like such a cowgirl!

Going Cray for my New J.Crew Shirt!

Okay, moving along past the excitement.  Last night I went to Primetime Wellness after getting my rump kicked in spinning, and downed a Reese’s Peanut Butter smoothie while talking with David and Melyssa about the company and becoming a distributor of Herbalife. Well, I joined, and will now be spreading the love and success of Herbalife to everyone and anyone, I’m so excited about this new venture! I will get into the company a little later on when I have more time to sit down and discuss it in full-depth.

Along with my smoothie, I received a tea, which I’m PRETTTTTTTY positive was laced with caffeine, which resulted in me waking up at 3am for a trip to the bathroom and kept me awake until 5am. Really cool, especially since my alarm went off at 5:35am. I’m a zombie, and will probably be skipping spinning tonight since I’m exhausted and feel like I could throw up. If I get sick before seeing Kip tomorrow night, I will tear shit up! Watch out immune system, don’t mess with me!

I snoozed an extra time this morning, as I deserved it after last night’s torture, and only lost a few minutes from my normal running period. I struggled through 3.1 miles, part due to my lack of sleep and also due to my little legs getting owned in spinning.

Morning Workout

  • 3.1 mile run
  • 2 sets of 1 minute planks
  • 2 sets of 20 mountain climbers
  • 50 crunches and 50 side-to-side crunches
  • 2 sets of 13 squats with overhead dumbbell press, 8 lbs.
  • 2 sets of 13 deadlifts with chest extension, 8 lbs. dumbbells
  • 2 sets of 13 standing side crunches, 8 lbs. dumbbells
  • Stretching

The core work felt extremely good, and I’m looking forward to tackling a cardio hodgepodge session today during lunch. Hope everyone is having a more “alert” Tuesday than I am.

This Day is Flying By.. Oh Wait, I Just Jinxed Myself

Today was flying by until Lindsay emailed me at work and asked how my day was. Shit hit the fan, as in, my day started dragging after I bragged my toosh off about how quickly the day had gone by. Karma, cool, thanks.

My appetite returned and I chowed down on leftovers from last night. Well, to be honest, since I wanted to puke when I saw the chicken on the grill and opted for tortilla chips to cure my unknown illness, today’s lunch technically wasn’t “leftovers” for me. I’ve been going through a phase where I only enjoy a sweet marinade on my chicken and salmon, so since the flavor wasn’t up to my picky standards, I doused it in ketchup. I put ketchup on my ketchup, what up now?! I did this all weekend, which concerned my cousin, then entertained her as I grabbed packets of ketchup at a gas station on our drive home yesterday afternoon to douse my leftover chicken from Saturday night. I’m weird, deal with it.

My Doused Chicken

Sorry for the graphic image. Actually, I’m not sorry. Try it, your life will change for the better. Dramatically.  No worries, the sweet potatoes went unharmed and were sparred from the red goo.

In about an hour I’m off to the gym for a quick run before spinning at 4:30. I’m SO excited for spinning, as I haven’t been able to go in over a week. I signed up for tomorrow night’s class as well so I’m thrilled for the classes I have lined up so far.

What’s even more exciting is that I have a business meeting with Primetime Wellness Club, a local smoothie and fitness cafe in the heart of the State’s capital that offers protein smoothies that use Herbalife and have aided in monumental weight loss endeavors. I was introduced to the cafe on Saturday by my cousin and was excited by their delicious and healthy smoothies, and also by the sign that mentioned they were looking to expand into other locations and states and to discuss if interested. Guess who brought it up? This girl did! I meet with one of the head honchos, Melyssa, tonight to discuss their business plan and to get more information on the company and the process of being a part of their team.

I’m also planning on getting the Reese’s Peanut Butter protein smoothie. That or the Butterfinger. Or the Grasshopper. Crap, I can’t decide. 35 flavors is too much. Looks like I have 35 flavors to try. Is it 7 yet? JUST WANT A GODDAMN SMOOTHIE.

Monday Means the Weekend is Over.. Wah!

This morning I woke up again not feeling like my true self. Chelsey’s mom works at a hospital so she told me that I probably had a virus and that it should go away soon. I sure hope it does! I’m getting tired of having no appetite and not feeling 100%. At least today I’m not nauseous!

I ended up being quicker in my morning routine so I was blessed to have an extra 5 minutes to run this morning. I surprised myself with pushing out a 4 mile run, which I’m stoked about since I won’t be hitting the gym during the middle of the day like I normally do. Instead, I’m taking my lunch at 4 to leave an hour early so I can take the Monday evening spin class at 4:30.

Morning Workout

  • 4 mile run
  • 50 crunches and 50 side-to-side crunches
  • 25 reverse crunches
  • 1 minute plank
  • 2 sets of 13 squats with overhead dumbbell press, 8 lbs.
  • 2 sets of 20 mountain climbers
  • 2 sets of 13 standing side crunches, 8 lb. dumbbells
  • Stretching

This workout left me drenched in sweat and feeling great.

As good as that felt, I STILL didn’t have an appetite. I tried to make a protein shake for work but it was too soupy and wasn’t going to work so I sabotaged that idea. Around 10, I forced myself to eat oatmeal with diced walnuts in it, knowing I needed the calories and protein, regardless of whether or not I was hungry.

Unfortunately I didn’t take pictures on my workout or of my breakfast, but I will leave you with this handsome man, who I will be seeing Wednesday night.

The Other Kip… Nope, Not My Dog!

You are very welcome ladies. 🙂

Wild Weekend

This weekend was a wild one, as my cousin and I raged with her Bubchi up at her beach house.

First, let’s skip to Friday night. My boss let the marketing girls leave early on Friday, which thrilled me since Ryan and Chelsey were waiting at home. Once home, the three of us hung outside talking about life, work and everything in between while Ryan hit golf balls around the yard and came an inch within hitting me in the face. Thanks bro, love you too!

Ryan, who works for Hershey chocolate, brought home dark chocolate covered acai berries and goji raspberries, to give us a taste of a new brand Hershey just acquired. I’ve always wanted to try both goji and acai berries, so I was hyperventilating when I saw the two bags sitting on the counter.

These bags didn’t last too long

I wasn’t even hungry but dug right in. Definitely spoiled dinner, but it was well worth it. That night, we hung out with my parents, watched a little TV, per my request we watched AC360 so I could fulfill my addiction to the Empire State Building shooting and Jeffrey Johnson. What an awful, awful tragedy, for the victims and for Jeffrey for having to feel the way he did for so long. Most people only feel bad for the victims, but how about a little compassion for Johnson. Yes, I know he went crazy and murdered a man, but can you imagine the thoughts and feelings he had to suffer through? I’m a big CSI fanatic, so cases like this draw me in. I spent a majority of the weekend on my phone just to try to find out the latest information.

Saturday morning I couldn’t sleep, and I was wide awake by 6:30 am… yes on a Saturday, ughhh! I decided to lace up my running shoes and went for a great 4.15 mile run before showering and getting ready to head up to my cousins. Around 10, my cousin, Nikki, my Aunt Mare, and myself drove to a protein shake bar in their city that is recently new. Since I didn’t realize how nutritious the smoothies were, I had a shake on my way to their house, but stole a few sips of their shakes and fell in love! I’m actually heading there tomorrow night to meet with one of the owners to talk about their business plan and discuss how I can get into the franchise and options I have, as they are looking to expand closer to my area. I’m so excited!

After spending about an hour longer than we expected at the shake bar, we dropped Aunt Mare off and headed up to York Beach, Maine, where we were heading to take care of Nikki’s Bubchi, who is old and needs as much help as she can get. Usually Nikki’s Aunt’s, Uncles and parents are at the beach on the weekend, but no one was able to head up. Nikki’s family dog, Kayla, a 13 year old Golden, had a stroke early this week and is house bound, so her parents had to stay home. Our family sticks together through thick and thin, so when Nikki asked me if I’d go up with her, I knew I couldn’t turn it down.

Once we arrived, we spent a little time with the Bubs and then wandered down to the beach to read and get a little sun.

The road we walk down to get to the beach ❤

After burning the soles of my feet, and crawling back to the house, we showered and went out for dinner. Nikki ordered a hell of a seafood meal, including a salad, chowder, lobster, mussels and fries, while I ordered a salad with grilled chicken and the Bubs ordered breaded baked cod.

Just a PART of our dinner

We were all satisfied and nearly in a coma by the time we made it home for the end of the Red Sox game. By 9:45 Nikki and I were in bed and fast asleep. What losers!

Sunday morning we woke up and tried to drag our tired bodies out of bed for a run. We both went our separate ways on our run and by the time we got back to the house, the Bubs was with her daughter-in law, chatting it up, while Nikki stretched on the floor. Nikki ran for 2 and I went for 2.8, and felt like death. We showered, ate breakfast on the porch with the Bubs, and went to the beach for 2 hours with Nikki and Tricia (Nikki’s aunt).

Nikko at the end of our beach day

After eating lunch on the beach, we wandered back to the house to spend time for the Bubs on the deck.

Feels like Vermont up here

It took us a lot longer to leave, as we had to make sure Bubs was all set for the week, grabbed her bills, garbage and everything else we could do since no one will be back to help her until Wednesday.

I said I wanted to be on the road by 2, since I had things to do back in town, but we got a late start due to the chores we had to help with, and hit traffic on the back roads home and didn’t get back until 5:30 pm. Saturday morning I was struck with car sickness and was never able to shake the feeling all day yesterday, last night and all day today, so the car ride home was awful, and by the time I was home, I wanted to die.

Is it normal to have the car sickness feeling for over 36 hours? I haven’t had a fever, chills or anything so I really don’t think it’s the bug, plus I never get car sick, so I’m not sure what happened.

I’m exhausted and almost finished with laundry, and am SO excited to crawl into my bed tonight. It was a long and tiring weekend, but it felt so good to put others first and help those who need it.

Hope you all had a great weekend too… without getting car sick!

A Slow Friday

Today has DRAGGED. I cannot stop watching the clock, but that’s because I have 2 special guests that will be at my house when I get home from work. Ryan and Chelsey (my brother and his gf of 6 years)! I’m so excited to see them, even though I just saw them at Viss & Kate’s wedding on the 10th. They’ll be here only for the night as they are attending Chelsey’s childhood best friend’s wedding in Burlington, VT.

Vacationing in Napa Valley

Since today has dragged, again, I had no appetite but wanted to eat something. Again, I had a small handful of raisins and a few sunflower seeds before having my protein packed yogurt.

This just might be my new favorite yogurt concoction. Before, I have been insanely obsessed with Chobani, but after trying to grow accustomed to plain greek yogurt, I finally found the winning combo.

Chocolate Peanut Butter Yogurt ❤

Fage 2% plain greek yogurt, with a spoonful of my chocolate peanut butter protein powder, and a little trail mix. This is SO SO good.

Since my pants were feeling a little snug today, I knew I wanted a cardio focused workout this afternoon. Before heading out the door, I created my game plan.

Afternoon Workout

  • 1.5 mile run
  • 10 minutes stair climber, 36 flights
  • 10 minutes nordic trainer
  • 2 sets of 13 lat pull-down, 55 lbs.
  • Stretching
  • 2 sets of 25 medicine ball sit-ups

Feeling gooooood! Post gym I wasn’t extremely hungry when I got back to work, but decided to nosh on a banana that was soon to go bad per my standards, a Starkist 100 calorie tuna packet and about 1/3 of a sweet potato.

90 more minutes than it’s the weekend and I’m a free girl! Hope you all have a great Friday evening! 🙂
